I have been noticing that the back of my lsi25 which is the iron grill where the powered sub is located is always hot even if it has been unused for a while. And the left speaker is not getting hot but only the right speaker. Is there something wrong with my right lsi25? This situation has ben a long time in the first place and I don't notice any change in sound quality too. Can you tell me your experience about it?

    Hello,
I believe that is caused by the bass amplifier's bias adjustment being too high. You should contact Polk's CS department at 1-800-377-7655 or via email at: polkcs@polkaudio.com on Monday. They'll help you take care of that.
    Regards, Ken

    Hello,
It's probably still a good idea to contact Polk, even though you are out of the product warranty period they will take everything into consideration. It's doubtful that the bass amp's bias has anything to do with an external amp going into protection mode. If you reduce the overall playing volume does the amp still shut off? In other words, will the external amp always go into protect mode, or only under certain circumstances?
    Regards, Ken

My xpr2 goes into protection mode once a year I guess. But yesterday I was listening to music then after 8 minutes, my amps shut down again. Also, Do you think I can fix the issue on m lsi25 myself just in case?

Why didn't you get it fixed when the issue first started?

I thought it was normal. I never knew till this week that even if I turned off the amp ( not on and not auto ), the amp is still hot unless you unplug the cord.

It's at normal volume. It shut off after 10 mins of listening to music...[/COLOR]

    No.

How much do you think it would cost me for a repair or replacement of this amp?

Another solution is buy another pair of lsi25 and return my cm9 since I notice that there is no much difference in sound quality and I don't know why. I guess my ears are not that smart as others. hat do you think????

    Hello,
The best person to contact would be Kim Jasper at kjasper@polkaudio.com and explain the circumstances, tell him when and where you purchased the speakers and tell him that you weren't aware of the problem until recently. In all likelihood he'll recommend you removing the speaker's bass amplifier and sending it to their service facility in Vista, CA.
There is a limit to how much current can be drawn from any amplifier when powering a speaker. There are many factors that come together to determine when that limit will be reached. If it only happens once a year there's no need to be concerned, it's doubtful anything's wrong, just enjoy your system.
    Cheers, Ken

Splitting hairs I know, but the XPR-2 isn't out yet. I think you are talking about an XPA-2?

Thank you so much for your time and I'll do it very soon so that I can enjoy my system with love... As a matter of fact, I have lsi25 (F & R ), lsi9 (2-pairs--- A & B surrounds ), and lsi F/X... I love all of them... I bought them from sound advice with extended waranty, but they never open anymore...

Here is the status of my lsi25 amplifier. I sent this amp out to San Diego CA. for repair. But after less than two weeks, I received a phone call from the polk audio tech department telling me that they don't fix that amp anymore. Instead, they want me to buy a brand new one which is very expensive and pay for the tax too ( even though I live in florida ) plus the shipping. Isn't that fair? Did this happen to you before???

It's fair if they are out of warranty which sounds like the case here. Either bite the bullet and get a new amp, get new speakers or have the amp returned to you and see if you can source someone to fix it locally. However, since you've gone this far, I'm inclined to suggest buying the replacement amp.

I was quoted for the price of less than $340 not including the tax and shipping. I dont understand why they need to tax me since I live in florida...

That seems like a reasonable price to me.

They are required to charge tax in any state they do retail business in.

The price of the brand new lsi25 is 650. So I am thinking of buying a new one than buying amp replacement. What do you think?

The price of the brand new lsi25 is 650.

That's a steeply discounted price, but still almost twice the price for the new amp. You decide.
