Just posting my opinion on speakers
I know I'm going to get a lot of criticism over this on a Polk site but I need to post my opinion for others.
I went from Polk Rti 12's to LsiM 703's. pushing a true 200 watts into each 703 they are one of the clearest speakers I have ever heard. But something was just missing to me. Was really never satisfied with them.
I recently bought (here is comes) some Klipsch RF 7II 's, my god it is night and day. I've always loved Polk speakers but I have to say, these RF 7II's are amazing. They play loud, clear, and will dig unbelievable deep for bass.
Comparing a bookshelf speaker to a floor speaker is not fair, but klipsch has opened my eyes.

Don't worry man, everyone is entittled to their opinion, good or bad. Theirs an aspect to all this I think your missing. Let me try to explain. Every speaker, or should I say line of speakers, has a signature sound. Klipsch has always been known to be clear and loud. Most like to call that "sizzle and boom", which alot of manufacturers seems to be trending towards. Whats missing to me anyway is the musicality, though I will admit Klipsch has really improved their lineup lately.
With that said, younger ears tend to gravitate to that sizzle and boom, maynot be your case however. Older ears tend to want to pick out instruments, listen deeper into the music. Our each individual tastes depends on how we listen. Nothing bad in saying your tastes prefer the Klipsch. Sometimes it's just a different sound that becomes more appealing to an individual, not necessarily better. So rock those Klipsch and enjoy, may be a perfect time to add some tubes. To me horns shine on tubes, heck, what doesn't right ?HT SYSTEM-

Excellent post Tony! Stilly, you like what you like bro. Some don't like the Infinity sound, I do. I have not listened to any Klipsch speakers in years.--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
I also agree with Tony. Speaker preferences are highly subjective. I settled on LSi for my home theatre, but there were many brands I auditioned, and some of them I liked the sound better than the LSi. I chose LSi for a mixture of sound characteristics and aesthetic characteristics.
Some of the front runners included:
Klipsch
Polk RTi series
Def Tech Mythos
The common theme being that I like bright speakers. Still, I very much enjoy the LSi speakers and have no regrets.
Speakers that I really did not like included:
Vienna Acoustics
Boston Acoustics
MirageDo you hear that buzzing noise? -
After auditioning several speakers, I think my next HT setup will be based on Klipsch Rf7's as well. I know it's usually a love hate thing with horn tweeters but I really like Klipsch, especially for how dynamic they can be in a proper home theater. Congrats and enjoy.
-
Congrats!!!! For a theater setup Klipsch is very hard to beat and the II series are less bright than the previous series. That RC64II is killer also.

Loved the Mythos ST towers. Also look at the new BP series, they're very nice as well. -

Def Tech and Klipsch were the two front runners for me, but ultimately went with Klipsch. They both make incredible low tight bass but the Klipsch horns sealed the deal for me. They are also very efficient, easy to make sing loud but yet still being clear at high volume. -
I have thought about a klipsch thx ultra 2 setup, I prefer the horns on the kl 650's over the rf7 2's

Of course a speaker with a horn loaded tweeter and two 10" woofers is going to be more efficient and have more impact than a bookshelf speaker with a single 6.5" woofer.
FYI, two 10's have almost 5 times as much surface area as a single 6.5"."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
No kidding, comparing bookshelf to floorstanding speakers. Really guys?Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. The sound characteristic is key not the size. He stated something was missing that he didn't like with the 703's. Even if you put floorstander against floorstander Polk can not compare to the clarity or the dynamic sound of klipsch speakers for home theater. -
He had the RT12's! They were broken in!
How does a person buy speakers at an audio shop? Lets say, they are all broken in,,,,or they're all not broken in! How do you determine which speaker is best is best for you?
Ask the guy at the store how many hours are on each speaker? If you like an AB speaker better than an AA speaker, and you found out the AB speaker had 180 hrs on it.and the AA speaker had 80 hrs on it,but have listened for hours on both; What would finut do???? Decisions decisions! I'm sure you have a educated answer,as my reply above was no good! And all your answers are "FACT" On Polk Audio! Good Day Sir! We all have opinions, fact,or opinions! That SHOULD BE RESPECTED ON THIS FORUM! Not talked down to!
Stiily, stay in your groove! As long as your happy;Thats all that matters! Let the tunes roll on!!!!!!!"Everything I ever did in my life worthwhile I caught hell for" -
Regardless, listening at an audio shop is a terrible way to shop for speakers."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I listened to all the RF series side by side in a brick and mortar.
Integra 140watt amp, I was listening in 2 ch. (about an hours worth).
I ended up preferring the smaller rf42's (dual 4.5") over the other ones.
I thought they sounded excellent and were more neutral sounding than the larger ones.
Really a great sounding speaker.
I looked on the Klipsch sight and saw that they were rated the lowest of the bunch, with only 4.5 stars as opposed to 5 stars
for the rest of the line.
I should have bought them, I liked them so much, but considering I have a room full of speakers now that I don't
use, I passed.
I still listen to my Klipsch (kg series) almost everyday and could never see them going anywhere.Testing

That's kind of what I did. Took them home to try in my own environment having full intention on taking them back. But that's not going to happen!!! Love these speakers and really don't give a rats **** if someone doesn't agree with me. I'm finally happy with the sound I've got, Polk or not!!! I was not trying to get someone's approval on here, I was just posting my opinion cause I have always been a Polk fan myself.
To finish off my setup Im looking at purchasing a RC 64II CH. -
You missed my point. Since you didn't let the 703's break in, you don't know what they really sound like. Now, in the the end you still might not like them, but at least you'd have given them a fair shot.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have had 4 different line of Klipsch speakers and liked them all. That being said, they were not great for all kind of music-which few speakers actually are.
The real reason I have not "upgraded" from my the polks I have is because they do SO many things very well!
I did listen to some Magnepan 3.7's this weekend and fell IN LOVE! They are my next purchase, though I will have to save for them cause my Polks aren't going anywhere. -

I really can't see them changing that much from the 40-45 hrs I have on them. Yes they are clear and yes they make very good bass for there size. They are just not for me. -

You know, for a man with mediocre intelligence you use this line too much.I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. I cant really see them changing that much either with the current amplification. Maybe once that is upgraded you can properly judge a pair of good speakers
When I used crap amplification with my Martin Logans they sounded worse but thats what good speakers do
