Lsi15 or lsi5 vs cm9
I have cm9 in less than a month and was given 60 days to return them if I don't like them. I have been trying to compare lsi15 and lsi25 to my cm9 and I notice that the difference is not that big. In fact, I don't notice that difference at all exept for the base. Do you think buying lsi15 ( worth $950 pair ) or lsi25 ( worth $1300 pair) is worth than keeping my cm9 ( worth $2500). My set up is 2.0 or 2.1 for music only ( 100%). I just bought a new pre amp from emotiva (xsp-1) and I will use it for my 2.0 or 2.1 system. What do you think?

I like the CM9's better than the LSI series. Try to get your ears on a pair and see for yourself. Also look into the new LSIm series. I like them better than both mentioned above.

as you said, you don't notice the difference, but $950 vs 2500 is crazy. If I am in your situation, just get the lsi15 and buy a $500 sub. or keep it simple with lsi25. a good $500 sub will give you all the bass you ever need.
kinda strange that you don't notice the difference in sound. everywhere I read, they say CM is brighter, crispier (in a good way, not RTi way)
I like my Lsi9, but kinda wish it has a better top end. still waiting for a deal on Lsim 703 -
i forgot to memtion that I alreasy have a sub which is velodyne opimun 12. I can see that there is a difference in the SQ, but the difference in not noticiable in my ears and I don't know why... Just for your own information, I have lsi25 for almost a decay and yet I still want to buy one for my bedroom for music set up only. That's the reason why I want your advise whether to keep my cm9 or buy lsi15 or lsi25. What do you think? I am asking cuz it is not something that you can replace anytime. It should last for another decay before you will buy another pair of speakers again.

for the price of CM9, have you considered Lsim? I heard they sound and sure look better than Lsi. kinda not fair to compare a $1000 vs 2500 speaker like Toyota Avalon vs MB E class
since you already have a good sub, have you considered Lsim 703? you gain nothing by getting big towers here. -
Do you think Lsi9 is better than 703?

with all the reading, 703 is better than 9. modded 9 is better than stock 703. I only paid $500 for my lsi9 new. where 703 is triple that.

No, 703's are much better.

If the difference between these speakers are not that huge, then I would probably go for lsi15 or lsi25 since they are onsale nowadays. I am only seeking the advise of other people who have these cm9 trying to compare with lsi15 or 25 for my peace of mind.

Is there any other advise for me please?

I also like the B&W CM9's over the Lsi15's or the Lsi25. I would probably take the B&W Cm9's over the Lsim line as well. But I would have to do a side by side comparsion as i really liked the Lsim703's I demo'd here at my home.
B&W speakers in general don't dig very low in the Bass department and IMO I believe is why they sound so damn clear and natural. They don't seem to force out Bass notes. Instead you mate them with a great sub and get a fantastic 2 channel listening experince.
Now on the other hand I do however really like the Lsi line. Back when they came out , I purchased an entire 5 channel system , then went 7 channels with all Lsi speakers with the 15's in front , Lsi/Fx on the sides and the Lsi9's in the surround back spot.
I also did many shootouts with the Lsi9's vs the Lsi15's and I always preferred the Lsi15's over the 9's as I felt the 9's where trying to reproduce bass notes they should not have. On another level I found the Lsi15's to also do the same thing. I picked them over Dynaudio Audience 72 and 82's back in that day but later sold off the Lsi's and replaced them with a full Dynaudio surround system with the Audience 82's in the main channel duty.
Speakers are personal and you can take this for whatever you want. All above speakers are great sounding speakers but you have to like them not me.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
