Does anyone have any idea how many SDA speakers
Polk made? I'm curious if they made an equal amount
of 2's, !'s, 2.3's etc. and in what quantity. Ebay seems to
have far more 2's for sale than any other SDA speaker but
maybe that's because they're cheaper and the people who
own the bigger ones don't want to sell them.
Thanks for any info in advance,
Mike

Raife's SDA Compendium, lists 20 models through 5 generations.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks but I actually meant how many speakers they made
as in say 1,000 SDA 2's, 3,000 SDA 2 B's, 4,00o SDA 1C's
etc. I really have no idea in what quantity they were made.

No idea on numbers, but here's a link with the dates of production.

well... that's different...
Ken can probably shed some light here... odds are that production was skewed to the less costly models. probably the case with any speaker line... as with cars... and homes... and microwaves... and...More later,

Only Matt knows for sure.
Polk Audio is very secretive about the number of units of a specific speaker they produced. When I was doing research for the Compedium, I sent an email to Polk asking how many speakers of each SDA model were produced. I received a reply that "they do not have that information".
Some privately held companies (like Polk), will not release information on the number of units produced/sold because sales revenues could be calculated from such information.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
Very interesting, thanks to all for the info. I think all of us
SDA owners are proud of their speakers and we are a
fairly small group it seems. I bought some SDA 2's at a garage
sale for $100 and had no idea what they were. They were
the best music bargain I ever got along with the mono
Sgt. Pepper lp I bought for 10 cents at a garage sale in the
80's.
