An itch to upgrade for no reason

I have a pair of Polk LS50s I bought in the mid-nineties. I have absolutely no complaints about their sound, especially since upgrading my amp. It would be totally irrational to change but I have the itch bad. Someone talk me out of it!

You should upgrade speakers every 10 years, and electronics every 5 years. Otherwise, you will have insufficient electrons available for accurate sound. The resulting low level distortion reaching your body can manifest itself in a variety of physical ailments. So, frequent upgrades are not a luxury, but instead are a necessity for a healthy life.

    Upgrading benefits everyone.
You are happier because you got something sweet for the system.
The wife or significant other is happier because you are in a great mood.
The kids and dogs are happy because you leave them alone.
I could go on but you get the gist.
I like happiness in my house!

Crouse, I can only surmise that you haven't spent a great deal of time on this site getting a feel for this community. With this cast of characters, asking to be talked out of spending money is like pissing into the wind and expecting not to get wet.

My wallet constantly reminds me what a terrible influence these guys are.

For any other audio guidance you can't go wrong here. Having said that I see alot of ramen noodle dinners in your future.
In closing, it wouldn't hurt just to take a look at the LSiM line up.

Man, same here. Only I bought all my speakers this year. I just feel so guilty replacing my brand new A7s, especially since I will have to take a good loss. I want a nice Bookshelf with two mid drivers, something high end this time, perhaps 1.5 - 2k for the pair.

I don't need approval from anyone and i have the money, i just feel so guilty..

Upgrading is half the fun of this hobby. You deserve it. Make your move, you'll be happy you did! Some brand new LSiM Series Polks may be the ticket.

Go see whats out there-you may or may not upgrade after listening. Sometimes we think something new will be so much better & find we are satisfied with what we have-but not very often lol!

Agreed "upgrade" after twenty years of listening. Good luck with that. Go out and listen then go home and listen again. I still enjoy my monitor10s everyday even with all of the "better" models out there. Its what im used to hearing, imperfect of course, but im genuinely satisfied. And when I think they dont sound right, mix a drink and kill the lights they'll get better. So upgade or drink more either way, hell yeah.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. I started my so call "upgrade" 10 months ago after 7 years with Hk 235 for my receiver and JBL E90 as my front setup. Since than I "upgrade" never end. I changed my receiver from Onkyo 709 to now back to Harman Kardon 7550HD and hopefully settle down with this. Speakers, from Bose 901 for 2 months and realized I can't have surround sound thought I have music for 85% of time. Then I have the Klipsch for about 2 months but can't survive with the high hornish. Then started building up with Polk rti series, Got the csi3, rti4 cheap from Frys and while waiting for sale on rti12 ( but damn Frys have for store-only deal) so end up got rti8 (big mistake) end up pass to my friend after a week I found some good deal on Energy RC series after reading a lot of reviews. I though I will settle down with energy for good but can't stop came to this forum. I feel itch again with lsi15. few weeks ago I saw this LSI15 set for an unresistable price. The next day I am a proud lsi15 owner and the sound easily beat my RC70 with a adcom 555ii amp. than here comes the wife she doesn't like the look they has to go. few weeks ago my friend move up from rti8 to A9( from Newegg's $400 each deal). Now I sold all my RC70 and lsi.

Now I am waiting for the A9 deal to come back or black Friday. If not I will go back to my lsi15 (Polk Ebay) as long my wife not going to throw me and my lsi15 out of street. I am currently have Energy V6.2 for front, RC10 for back, lsiC for center (also have RCLCR in the box for sale) for my short term set up. Until I have my A9 or lsi15 set up completed I will stop come here, LOL!!!

Yes! Do this. I wanted to get the Lsim705 but I havent been able to track pair down to demo. So im playing it safe and going with the B&W CM9s. After you buy them you can tell me all about them and post awesome pictures!
They really do look like awesome speakers and if you do get them you should do a full write up.

I auditioned the B&W CM9s shortly before Polkfest 2012 with my daughter with an eye to buying a pair for her. I didn't bceause we were not satisfied with the sound. After hearing the LSiM707s a Polkfest, I'm holding out for a pair of those because I believe they are the better speaker and value for money. Just my opinion.

Upgrade then pass your old speakers to someone you know who might appreciate them but never took the time to try nicer audio, then they will get the upgrade itch. Spread audiophilia.
