3x RTiA7?

In my home theater I have an acoustic screen. So I'm going to put Left, Center, Right behind it. Instead of using two RTiA7 and one CSiA6... Can I use three RTiA7?

Using three of the same speakers behind an AT screen is by far the best way to go. If I had a few more feet of depth to my HT, I would have gone the same route as you.

Hope you've got a powerful AVR or an external amp. Three A7's are going to eat up some power.

I believe that is the preferable method for a close to accurate front soundstage. I am sure some of the more experinced members will chime in soon.

I say get Dolby Pro Logic IIx and run wides...thats 5 A7's in the front muwahahahaha! lol

with any other speaker i'd say go for it. But with the A7s vs A6.. no way. The A6 will kill the A7 as center. Two large mid drivers and simple construction.. If Anything I would go 3 x A6 for the front!

But as in all things your perception is your reality.

You're not thinking of turning the RTiA7 on its side are you?

You may want to read up on Horizontal vs Vertical dispersion with MTM driver arrangements. It explains why a vertical driver arrangement (A7) is better than a horizontal (A6). One of the main reason center channels are horizontal is because of home user placement. Also the A7 puts the tweeter height all the same level near the sitting ear hieght in most cases.

PS: I know that the A7 isn't exactly a MTM array but i believe the concept is simlar.

If the middle of your ears are 39 inches in height when seated then yes the RTia7 is the answer. Otherwise, the CSiA6 is the ticket.

It's not necessarily a test per say but a matter of preference. Idealy, 5 channels of full range speakers would be the ticket, especialy for multi-channel music playback, but how many have room for 5 full range speakers ? If your one of the lucky ones, then yes go with all full range speakers, even if it's only the front 3 speaks.

+1 and the TM array has imaging advantages over MTM* and let's not talk about its* comb filter issues.

what do you have to drive your LCR ?(3 RTi A7s!) Should be 4 ohm stable if you're gonna crank it!

BTW: How big is your room?
