AVR receiver for RTiA7s

Hi,

I have a question which is very similar to one asked earlier this year, however, my situation is just a little different so please indulge me.

I presently have a home theater system with Polk Audio RTiA3s for the fronts, A6 for the center and A1s for the surrounds. The receiver is a Denon avr 1612. I am happy with this system but I want move up to RTiA7s for the fronts.

I realize I need a receiver with more wattage per channel to get optimum performance from the A7s. I have looked and listened to a lot of receivers and at present my initial choice is the Marantz SR 7005. My second choice is the
Denon AVR-3313CI.

I wonder if the Marantz or Denon are a good fits in this application or if anyone on this forum might have another and better suggestion.

Consider the Pioneer Elite SC series.

My Yamaha works fine with my RTiA7's and then some...

Just make sure what ever one you get has amplifier pre outs. If yours currently does or if you did this the first time, you could be shopping for an amplifier right now, instead of a new AVR.

do you have a subwoofer? I would rather get a good sub than A7s. I am really not sure that A3 to A7 is an upgrade if a good subwoofer exists in the configuration. The A3s have a larger mid driver and may be they sound fuller than the A7s. The A7s come across very thin in the mids.

Who in Chicago has A3s? Can you bring them to my place in Schaumburg to test who sounds fuller or bigger if you will, the A3 or the A7s, given a good sub. I have a good selection of amps, receivers and subwoofers.. lets do some comparisons and drink a beer. I want to bet one paper dollar that the A3s will sound better or just as good as the A7s with subwoofers crossed at 100 hrz.

Thanks ravaneli that is an interesting point. I have not compared the A7s to the A3s. The A3s do sound really good in my present HT system. I do have a sub, it is the Infinity Primus PS312 which is (1) 12" speaker at 400 watts. For music I am in pretty good shape.

I have another system setup for listening to music. It is a 2 channel system with a Marantz 2252 receiver and Design Acoustics PS-10 speakers along with a Tascam Cd player/recorder and a Sony turnatable.

If you do compare the A3s and the A7s I would really be interested in what you find out. Thanks again.

That is kind of funny. RTI A7's or 9's are deffinalty better than the 3's.

Rav use to recomend the A5's over the 7's and 9's, now he is down to the 3's. Pretty soon the recomendation will be just a tweeter from the RTi's along with a good subwoofer. That way you dont have to buy the whole speaker.

You might check how to see how his viewes line up with about 99% of the other people on here before you take anything to serious.

does anyone in Chicago have A3s? Come on, let's run some tests. It will be fun. We can do that and blind test a few amps at the same time.
I really see no reason why, given a good subwoofer, the A7s should perform better than the A3. I know nobody agrees with that, but you may know by now i care very little about popular opinions. Popular opinions made Barry a president. What else needs to be said on those. But the A3s have a bigger mid driver and only 1 crossover and both of these seem as an advantage to me. Why should the A7 be better? Because it has more wood?

I have the A3's, A7's and A9's. I have run all of these in a two channel system at seperate times. There is definately an improvement as you go up in this speaker series. I don't believe adding a sub to the A3's would be as good as adding a sub to the A7's, Just MHO.

Zane77- that is great looking set-up you have and I'm sure you have some serious money in it. I'm just curious but what is your opinion of the A9s? I have read a lot about them, both good and not-so-good, on here and in other forums. Just wondered what you thought.

On another subject: I am a "semi" retired professional musician and I have a lot of gear I have aquired over the years stored away. Somehow I have picked up several power amps. I know I have a couple old D series Crowns, a Carver and one that I used in my pedal steel guitar rig, a Stewart PA 1000. This is a 2 space digital amp. I used it in a live venue to run stereo into (2) 15" JBLs. Has anyone here used or heard of a Stewart amp being used in a HT system?
I have never tried it myself but I bet if you came out of the pre amp output on a HT receiver into the Stewart then into the front speakers it would sound good.

This is my HT setup, I have a seperate two channel system. I started with the A7's and then upgraded to the A9's, I think they sound fantastic! Some of the people on this forum don't care for the Emo amps but I think the system I have put together sounds really nice and everyone who has watched a movie on it is astounded with the sound. If you are putting together a HT system they would work great, if you are putting a music system together they would still be really nice. Some people say the Parasound amps work well with these, but I don't know I have never tried that. For strictly sound, probably the LSi's or the LSiM's might be a better choice. I have not heard either of these systems, just going by what I read on the forum.

i got the elite sc35 and the a9s and was very pleased in bi amp mode or even normal, however now i run them with emo xpa3 and that is better to my ears.
