I need help selecting speakers for large 32' x 40' room. Half of the room has 10' ceilings and 16' vaulted on
the other half. Will be 50/50 music and movies.
So far the system I've put together is:

Yamaha RX-A1020 7channel receiver
Polk CSI A6 center channel
Polk PSW 505 subwoofers x 2

All surrounds will be wall mounted on shelves. I'm leaning towards Polk RTi A3's for front left and right.
Unsure what to use for two sides and rear surrounds.
Options I'm considering are:
FXI A6 or A4, RTi A3 or A1, and TSi 200

Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Dale

Get the ones with the most power handling and output you can afford.

Also, consider 2 more subs, if you can, and stack them.

Thats over 15000 cubic feet.... good luck!

For me reviews and budget are the contributing factors. Right now....Panasonic Thrusters fit the bill.
    --Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out.

Hopefully you can find room in your budget for floorstanders for the front rather that the a3 or a1.

If you could get the RTiA5 (or 7 ;), you will be far better off in that space. I don't want to be discouraging, but I do want to be realistic. Bookshelf speakers for HT in a room that huge are fighting a losing battle

You have an absolutely massive space. I'd try going as large as possible.

    Polk Center: CSi A6
    Polk Surrounds: FXi A6's
    Polk Rear Surround: RTi4
    Sub: HSU VTF-3 (MK1)
    AVR: Yamaha RX-A2010
    B&K Reference 200.7
    TV: Sharp LC-70LE847U
    Oppo BDP-103

With a room that big I'd go with Rti A9's up front, CSi a6 center and FXi A6's surrounds. With those speakers and the size of the room I'm also get an amp for at least the front 3!
    Anaheim Hills CA,
    HT 5.1: Anthem MRX 720 / BDP-Denon DBT1713UD / Polkaudio LSiM703 / W4S mAmp's / Polkaudio LSiM706c / Polkaudio LSiM702F/X's / SVS PC12-NSD / Panasonic TC P55VT30

    2 Channel: Rogue RP-5 / WireWorld Electra power cord / Marantz TT-15S1/ Ortofon - Quintet Black MC / Marantz NA8005 DAC / W4S mAmp's / Synology DS 216+ll-4TB / Polkaudio LSiM703

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.
I'd love to go with the floor units for the front but this is going to be a working garage/man-cave with a workbench all across
the front and floor speakers would just be in the way. I've already had all speaker wire drops installed in the walls. Spray foam insulation and sheetrock goes in this week. That's why I'm trying to find something to mount on the walls out of the way.

I would think a 28 foot workbench should be enough.

The A3's will be fine for front. Just get two good subs and cross them at 100. The A3s with a 100 hrz cutoff can handle a lot of power. If no movies, you don't need the FX series for surrounds. You can go A1 for surrounds for a good match, and they so pretty. FX doesn't look good anyway : )

Well everyone has convinced me I need towers for the front so I've ordered two Polk Monitor 70 Series II for my front left and right. I know they're old technology and not as good as the RTi A7's but should be better than bookshelf speakers. Couldn't pass up the deal thru Newegg.com at $179 each. So heres what I have on order so far.

    Receiver - Yamaha RX-A1020 7.2channel w/110 Watts per channel
Polk Fronts - Monitor 70 Series II
    Polk Center - CSI A6
    Polk Subs - Two / PSW 505

Now have to decide on two surrounds and two rear surrounds. Seriously considering four Monitor 40 Series II on Newegg.com for $149 a pair vs four RTi A3's for $350 a pair from Amazon.

Ok, finally ordered surround speakers. I know I'll probably get reamed because they're not matched sets, oh well. My main concern is whether the receiver will drive the LSi7's as they're 4 ohm with all the others being 8 ohm. The specs for the Receiver say the Dynamic Power per Channel is (8/6/4/2 ohms)135/165/210/280W. I've read some discussions saying they work fine and others say you need an Amp. We shall see.

    Here's the whole setup.

    Receiver - Yamaha RX-A1020
Polk Fronts - Monitor 70 Series II
    Polk Center - CSI A6
Polk Side Surround - FXi A6
    Polk Rear Surround - LSi7
    Polk Subs - Two / PSW 505
