I have the following gear and several questions
1. Polk Monitor 70 series II front speakers (2)
2. Polk PSW125 Subwoofer (1)
3. Polk Monitor 40 series II rear surround (2)
4. Polk CS20 Center Channel (1)
5. Denon AVR-1912 receiver
6. 16G oxygen free copper wire
1. What does crossover frequency mean? Mine is set to 80Hz. I use a RCA cable to connect the receiver to subwoofer so the front speakers are set to small. Bass is ok but doesnt really shake my house. So I set the bass to +10 db? Is that ok ??
2. What does Audyssey do? Does it calibrate the speakers to different locations in the room so that everybody in the room hears the same sound rates? Does Audyseey also calibration the audio so that all speakers are in sync? My problem is when I play it loud my center channel appears to be completly out of sync. I am talking about +1 db relativ volume. Also the pitch or shrillness is so high on my set up, its like cacophony. Till today I havent been able to find a treble control on the receiver. I went in the receiver channel menu settings and set the front speakers to -2 db, center channel to -4 and rear speakers to -2 also. I am doing this to reduce the shrillness. Frankly speaking Ihave no clue what am I doing. I thought Audyseey would have done everything but may be I just overwrote the Audyssey settings. Is there a way I can lock the Audyssey settings
3. There is a command called Dynaminc volume control and Dynamic compression. If its set to day, Singer's voice is loud but when changed to evening or midnight it drops down. I dont think the evening and midnight settings can be used for any dance parties because the sound is so muffled. Is this correct
4. I always use multi channel stereo as it is loudest. I want my system to produce clear sounds regardless of if I am listening at -34db or +5db. Also not to have high shrillness or pitch or out of sync. Bass has to be great also. Is it too much to ask from this system. I watch movies on it and never see any issues, perhaps the sound patterns or beats are not continuous in movies as in music thats why
5. Last night while playing with the settings I stumble upon something called speaker ref or something and I changed that to 10db. The range for that was 0 to +15. I am not sure if thats a correct setting
Can somebody help
Thanks,
Jas
