Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I have a pair of CRS with vinyl veneer that I have considered having redone with real wood veneer. Seeing yours just makes me want to start looking to find someone that can do it. It's not something I want to attempt myself. Nice job.Main System:

Be glad yours are vinyl, they vinyl is much easier to remove than if you start with wood.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

nspindel Very nice indeed, the bondo job was perfect just enough to get the job done and probably had a lot to do with how they came out. Now on my 4.1TL's I'm going in a different direction. I'm going to have a piano black finish (professionally done as I don't have skills or tools to do it myself) and the strip of molding below the grille will be clear coated brushed aluminum.
If duelands resistors you ordered are the short ones and it was me this how I would mount them. There almost a perfect fit this way and lead length should not be a problem.

Wow, I want to see pics of those when they're done! Very cool.
Jury is still out ill have to see what I receive. Pcx telling me they are the short ones, but for the 2R7 they sent 10w instead of 5w. But Dueland told me that the shorts are only 5w, so seems like a contradiction. We'll see what shows up...
Thanks for the advice Tony!Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
Nice job they look awesome, now if Larry would make some custom stands for those like the ones he made for his son you would be set. I think Larry should make several pair for fellow CRS owners, I'am sure they would be bought up rather fast. Once again nice job!!!Home Theater

That's good to know in case I decide to do mine -
Man, those look great! Looking forward to pics after finish is applied."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer

With the veneer and better caps the speakers are elevated far beyond factory. They will sound better and look *FAR* more elegant. I am working on getting my monitor 7's professionally veneered.
-
Don't forget about the inductors and resistors! I'm using Solens for the 16mH and Jantzens for the smaller inductors on the board, and then Dueland resistors. They will be way beyond factory. Rings, Sonic Barrier, Dynamat, I'm all-in with these babies!Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I am going to look into these mods if my monitor 10 deal goes through. -
I just pulled my 1.2tl's out and dug out my CRS+'s out of the closet and set them up, you forget what these little guys are capable of they do so many things right..
I have had the Jantzens for sometime now to put in these, and I still need to pick up the 16mh Solens for these but they are so big I'm not sure I want to put them in. I will put in the Jantzens when I get done working on my 1.2tl's.. -
While everyone was busy partying at Polk Fest, some of us were doing some work!
........
These were done in maple, I'm going to hit them with 220-grit sandpaper, and then three coats of tung oil. No stain.
Outstanding! High marks!I'm going to have a piano black finish (professionally done as I don't have skills or tools to do it myself) and the strip of molding below the grille will be clear coated brushed aluminum.
Great choice! I love both a unique wood and/or piano black finish. I did an automotive clear coat black finish on a turntable plinth I built and never get tired of looking at it.
