So, last Saturday night I finally break down and buy my first call phone, which is a 64GB black iPhone 5, from ATT. It arrives last night, and I start to set it up. At first everything is fine, but then the keypad response starts slowing down, and weird characters start appearing in balloons when I press a key. That assumes there is even a response. Great, I think. This is the same crap I had when I upgraded my iPad. Reset. No help. Reset. No help.

So, today I take it to Steve Job's Apple Store in Palo Alto. They look at it, try a firmware upgrade, and agree that it is FUBAR. It appears they are well stocked with replacements, so I get a new phone that works. Now I am happy. I can control my music server from my iPad and my iPhone. Isn't technology grand.
