Clamp or no Clamp?

Would you please help me make up my mind? I've read a lot in here and elsewhere... while many agree it is a must, the other camp believes that you do not want to couple the record that much with the table so as not to pass every vibration onto it... I do not recall seeing any opinions in here about this "no clamp" opinion.…
