the size of a pickup truck, what gear would you get when you go back in time.

I'd get:
A pair of big horn speakers
A very good record player
A whole bunch of opera/classical records
Some tube amps and pre like Dyna, Harman, Mac's
A few big boxes of pre and amp tubes like Telefunken, Mullard, GE, etc

I think all that should fit on a pickup.

What would you go for?

Western Electric compression drivers and about a 1000 replacement diaphrams.
Plenty of Marantz 8 amps and 7 preamps.
Radio Shack 40-1354 full range speakers.
    Plenty of tubes.
    BASF chrome cassette tapes.
    Altec microphones.
And as many sealed Beatles albums as could fit.

I would head straight to a record store! I would probably buy a whole set of McIntosh gear too.

I'd avoid my first wife like the plague, and seek out my current one 15 years earlier.

See, that's the problem....Dr. Bose did study marketing. He certainly is much better at marketing than audio engineering.

Having never met you, I can still say with complete confidence I am better looking and more charasmatic than you are, and you would still not stand a chance, even with a one day lead. :p
