Just saw your last post Mark, thanks for your work here and this post count issue will all work out for the better.

As a long time lurker and purchaser I think the whole thing is crazy! I guess I could always post what I am listening to. That is a good way to boost post counts and is quite helpfull to others.

I have no objection to 100 post policy before you are allowed to post a for sale ad.
I second the 100 count to post but why read or purchase? -
Lurkers are awesome, not the root cause or issue but you unfortunately pay for others abusing rules and general niceness. I'm a lurker for Polk on at least 24 other forums but have no need to ever sell something there....as I can do that here on my home forum. Why this is such a big deal is mind boggling to me personally but maybe I'm just dumb.

Thx P2009CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
There is also that issue that some of us *cough* *me* bought items in the flea market, and two days later, now we can't see the threads and/or update them.
At minimum, a warning would have been helpful.
This was a quick decision but any way you look at it, someone would be upset and you're one of them. Where does it end? It has to start somewhere Chad.

Sorry toolfan66 I just got back from a road trip and realized I had highjacked / when off topic on your tread I know it's a bit late now but never the less I could or should have started my own. Sorry for being rude.
Cheers Roger -
Hey everyone I just noticed that we have to get up to 100 posts before we can view the FS adds. This is actually a good thing cause there are a lot of people who come on and try to buy and don't follow up with the sells. I have also seen some forums with bad results which is sad. Anyways I myself will be starting to be a lot more active on these forums. So hello to everyone!!!!!Pre/Pro: Marantz AV7005

Hmm,
I second the frustration about having to have 100 posts to view for sale ads - how can someone build up knowledge and experience to share with others if there's no way to purchase gear at a good price?
Thankfully before the ban I was able to interact with a lot of really helpful folks in the marketplace who helped me put together my system - I'm still in contact to this day. I'm afraid that if I had happened on to the Polk Forum only after the ban I would have the great system, knowledge, or new Polk buddies I have now.HT System:

Just noticed the change.
Wow! Just wow!
Looks as most posts on this got locked.
Well maybe in 2021 or so I'll have enough credit/posts to again view listing for sale.
But then maybe it will require me to have 10k posts. -

Good point. This could be like the mission totals in Catch 22, where every time Yossarian got close to the number needed to go home, they raised the total 5 or 10 more missions.
I have nothing to sell here but did enjoy reading the posts for what others have for sale. -
I used to love coming to this forum to read tips, get advice, and on browse the classifieds for good deals. Was dumbfounded this afternoon when I tried to look at the FS items. Thought I just needed to log in. Logged in, and STILL can't read the FS posts. 100 or more posts JUST to look at the ads??? Seems a bit much! I don't post much, but when I do, it's sincere, and often long-winded... I often got on to view sales during lunch. Don't have much time to be posting. It is an unfortunate rule change. Looks like it happened almost a year ago (show's how busy I've been and how long it's been since I was last on here!) Also looks like this topic has been quiet (or the posts deleted) for the last 8 months.
I've been a member for over 3 years. It'll take me another 6 years to reach the 100 posts at my rate. Oh well, rules is rules! Still odd that no moderator has said (at least in this thread) why the 100 post count requirement to VIEW FS threads... -

Not a mod but its basically an attempt to ensure that only folks that are contributing to the forum are able to reap the benefits of the flea market. Unfortunately some long time members (who lurk but dont post) are affected by this.
Personally I like it as if I post something For Sale here and also on other forums, ebay, CL (but at higher prices) unless they are a Polkie they cant see that lower price."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Thanks ES. Yeah, I've been quiet, and got the itch to peruse what people were selling. I have enjoyed this forum, and have gotten some great advice. Just never posted that much.
I will say, I spent a better part of the afternoon reading (and posting) and found myself laughing, learning, and truly enjoying hearing some of the chatter.
It just would have been nicer to have a time requirement rather than post number requirement, although I do understand that it allows people to 'get to know' the others they are selling to. I can respect that.
Well, with my reading (AND responding), I've managed to double my post count. Just hope that they don't change the number of posts by the time I reach the 100 post milestone.
Thanks to you and many of the others for making this a truly great forum!
