New DB 6x9 not working

I purchased a set of db 6x9 to put in the front doors of my 2001 jeep grand Cherokee a couple ago they worked great for 5 weeks and the passenger side door started to cut out and resemtly it completely stoped working I took it out and tested my wiring buy hooking it up to my amp buy 3ft of 16ga. Speaker wire it did nothing at all not even a buzz no water damage an not busted so I dont have any idea what it could be
