Used a $350 promotional gift card from newegg to help purchase the $600 DefTech SM55s this evening. Reviews seem positive and I have the feeling these will produce quality sound. Anyone heard them? I believe we're talking about a two-way sealed design with a 6x10 passive radiator on top.

Two Channel Setup:

Speakers: Wharfedale Opus 2-3
Integrated Amp: Krell S-300i
DAC: Arcam irDac
Source: iMac
Remote Control: iPad Mini

3.2 Home Theater Setup:

Fronts: Klipsch RP-160M
Center: Klipsch RP-160M
Subwoofer: SVS PB12NSD (X 2)
AVR: Yamaha Aventage RX-A2030
Blu Ray: Sony BDP-S790

I have the SM450 which is the previous version. I think you will like them very much. I love mine for HT, which is what I bought them for. The new series MAY be even better musically. You got a great price!

Thanks for the responses. If I like them a great deal I may replace my wharfedale diamond theater setup with them. Potential problem seems to be an option for a center channel. I don't see a corresponding center for the SM bookshelf models.

Joe @ Deftec said either use of the SM65 as a center or the CS-8040HD would be good choices. The SM55 is on my list to audition as well.

Nice to hear you guys like them so far.

Good info. The CS-8040HD is probably the way I would go if it comes to that.
