Subwoofer electrical noise / thump - then turns off

Still trying to get the kinks out of an RT3000P sub I have. It works fine, other than it shuts off randomly.
What happens is I'll hear a short electrical buzz/zap noise followed by a thump, then the sub is off. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to come back on. I know it's an amp issue, and I'm sure a part probably needs replaced...just throwing it out there to see if anybody has any ideas.
Thanks in advance!

Polk does not service these amps anymore, period. I would email CS and ask about this issue and the replacement part and if it's available.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I've just e-mailed CS about the issue. Hopefully they have some advice. I refuse to let this sub die!
