Any B&K lovers?

I just bought a used B&K ST-202 plus amp and I it is really a pleasant surprise.

I have owned several SS power amps in the 150-250 wpc range like:
Adcom GFA-1
Adcom GFA-555
Carver TFM-35
HK Citation 16
Rotel 1080
Sumo Andromeda

So far, I think the B&K sounds better (my definition is "more musical/less electronic") than any of those.

Not much in the box except for an enormous torroidal transformer and two gigantic caps. Maybe simpler is better.

Any similar, or different, experiences with B&K?

My Ref 200.2 is the first amp I've owned so nothing to compare it to.

That said...I like what I hear. It looks clean and feels solid. Makes me feel like a man

I had a similar experience when I listened to a ST2140. Absolutely fell in love with the sound over my Carver TFM. It just seemed to synergize better at the time given my components.

Definitely want to try them out in my setup.

I still own a ST-202 Plus myself as back-up. It is the best sounding solid state amp that I have owned. It's sound is almost tube like with its warm tone. I am a big fan of B&K amps.

I have 3 B & K amps on various systems and will probably dump the Adcom I have on the bedroom rig once I start concentrating on that stereo. They are my favorite SS amp manufacture.

I have only owned the Reg 7250ii, love the sound and have heard other amplifiers but nothing in my price range I would switch too.

B&K was one of the most wonderful companies I had the pleasure of owning a few things from them.
I had a ST140 which was my first , then I moved into the AVR307 which I loved completely as it was truly an amazing sounding receiver. Then a AVR507 which is in my basement with nothing connected to it and a AV260 2 channel amp that is simply beautiful for a nice 2 channel system.

If B&K releases a new receiver or preamp amp combo , I would strongly consider it for my next upgrade. Sorry to say I believe they are dead.

Sad but true! I'm not sure they are going to be able to limp out of the hole they dug. I'll hang onto my AVR 507v2 until it just won't work anymore. I haven't heard an AVR yet that can produce the same SQ.

I own three of their amps the 202+, the EX442 Sonata and the ST1400 Series II. I like all the amps but especially the 442. I have purchased and repaired 3 of their 202 AVR off of Ebay for cheap. A really good sounding "little" AVR. I haven't had the chance to listen to a 300 or 500 series AVR but I'd like to at some point.

Bought a B&K about 6 months ago on CL. Was stored in the sellers garage open to dirt and dust. Had second thoughts buying. The amp. Was'nt taken care of. I ended up buying the amp, cleaned it up, plug it in and works great .No hum no hiss. Very good amp.
