Right now my entire system is the Pioneer Elite, a Sony Blu Ray player and these speakers! (SAY WAHHH)

I am preparing to start ripping apart my den in the next year or so (time flies) and I dont plan on holding on to much gear except for my Def Tech in walls...

    A reboot if you will!

Anyone who has Taylo speakers needs to move a wire in the tweeter network...

It makes a huge difference, I have done it to three different Taylo models and the end result is drastic and a very positive change

I literally had a buddy come over and beg me to sell that system to him...

He absolutely positively LOVES the Rogers and the Parasound!

My goal is to get people my age interested into audio!

So far I am spread the infection to 5 people this year! :)

I have been listening to these on and off all day - given my current gear selection I am impressed with the sound!

I am already contemplating the modifications though! (That is a whole other sickness of mine as you all know)

I'm not arguing because I don't know, but that seems like a real simple thing they shoulda figured out when they built them, no?

I'd be more nervous buying speakers that have a wire in the wrong place...

Eh I would say it is more voicing than the wrong place.. . I matched the configuration to the linbrook and it brought far more clarity than the stock position. Ymmv

You should pick up a measuring setup to see what you're actually doing during your experiments. You may be creating a large peak or valley somewhere in the FR.

    Possibly... :)

I just used my ears, has not failed me yet! But I agree it would be neat to see what it is actually doing to the sound! I will add that to my list of things to purchase... I rarely go digging to change the circuits. The only reason I dabbled into the Taylo circuit was when I was messing with the Taylo Reference IIs - they sounded so bad I felt the need to do so...

They had a lot going on in them though. Every person that heard the stock versus the adjustment agreed they were superior in every way... it was simply no contest.... and not to mention the gentleman that bought them to this day (over a year later) agrees they are some of the best speakers he has ever heard and he owned the exact same set before buying mine...

Why do I get the feeling you're still chasing your tail? Trey, go listen to some Harbeth monitors. I've never, in my 37yrs in this hobby, at any price, heard vocals/midrange done more accurately. I don't usually "fan boy" but I'm seeing a pattern with you bubba. Save money and get a used pair, their resale is high so you'll be able to unload them easily. If they aren't your cup of tea, I'll personally send you the loss you take re-selling them; YES, I'm SERIOUS.

I wouldn't buy a pair blind as they definitely have their own "house sound", you will either love them or hate them.

Being the bass hound you are, you will likely need to add a sub, as Harbeths are all about tonal accuracy and not earth shattering bass, unless you go larger than the 7ES-3.

I think you would be surprised how bass heavy I am...

I am more of a clarity, midrange, highs fan....

I am still proud that I have yet to hear a speaker close to the Super Towers... period!

But I ran my Super Towers without a sub for a while and felt it was enough in most cases!

Now for HT - that is a different scenario completely!!

If clarity, midrange, and highs are your thing, Harbeth's were built for you. IMO.

Face, trust me when I say that what Trey did helped....tremendously. Measurements aside, before the swap, they sounded drab, veiled, way too laid back, comparable to a K-Mart quality speaker and honestly they sounded like crap. Trey got on the phone with Ty, asked him a couple of questions and within 15 minutes Trey had a speaker worthy of holding it's own. It became not only listenable but enjoyable and that thing we call imaging all of a sudden came into fruition. Both Trey and I sat there in amazement as to why Ty would have released the speakers the way he did. All of this without making the speaker pierce your ears. After the adjustment, the highs and mids sounded very close to what Trey is now experiencing with the Taylo Reference Monitors. It wasn't just a "subtle" difference. It was more like night and day difference.

These Reference Monitors have all of the same problems as the big set we heard Tom - I just have not had a chance to rip them apart...

There is so much compression to these speakers out of the box.... the Rogers LS7 were superior in alot of ways...

Hello, Trey and good morning to you. George's ref. monitors didn't sound as bad as the set you had and the last I heard them, they were stock. Perhaps Ty wired them differently? Mr. Daniel's set sounded great at Carverfest a couple of years back, some had mentioned that they were the "best of show".

Good to hear from you again.
