Just got pair of used monitor 50's
when I hooked up it just didn't sound right
wasn't getting ANYTHING from tweets....I even took them off speaker so I could hear away from woof's

I don't THINK the guy I got them from would sell bad stuff and I think both tweets blown would be too much of a coincidence.......so I am assuming I am doing something

I had a rti8 setup before these and left receiver setting as they were with the 8's which sounded great

any ideas

You should also redo your calibrations for the new speakers. Going to M-50's from the RTi's is a step backwards for most of us. Why the switch?

I second that... is a step backwards! RTi line is better. Well about the tweeters, take tweeters out and measure them with a multimeter in ohms.

Def was a step back...I had to sell my whole 5.1 rti setup...needed money....so I started cheap with some monitors .... Jumpers are good ....and what could I don't know what or how to recalibrate as far as tweets.....I know low frequ can be calibrated.....do u mean recalibrate with the mic?

Yep... I would start with the mic and see what that does for you. It can make a HUGE difference.

And it may not make any difference at all, but I can tell you that until I ran MCACC on my SC-37, I had absolutely no highs at all from my MC-20's. It was as if the tweeters were completely disconnected.

Did you check if the plate is attached to both terminals ? Myn was having the same issue with the Rti8. Here's what happend.

One of the plate on the red terminal was moved away and not touching the other terminal. So, i think the internal crossover assumed it as bi-amping and was not supplying power to the tweeter.

May be as simple as this can help..

First, since your jumpers are in place. Make SURE ALL the red/black screw down fasteners on ALL four terminals are screwed down TIGHT so that the jumpers are "indeed" making contact with all FOUR terminals.

Also, if your receiver has a DIRECT mode STEREO option which turns all equalization off to run in pure stereo. Engage that and run the M-50s as Front L/Rs.

Another check. is do the above. REMOVE the jumpers and attach the speaker wire to the TOP terminals only (those should power the HIGH frequency array). If you don't hear "anything" from that. Your tweeters are probably shot. And you may be able to get some new ones from Polk CS.

    No, it wouldn't.

Grab a VOM and test them.
