So my wife enters a contest a few months back and low and behold she won the grand price. it was this really nice Tassimo T65 Single serve coffee machine. Here's a link to it.

I already have a Kureg which is pretty damn cool but this new machine I think takes it to the next level. The Coffee comes out strong and thick. I really like it a lot not to mention we have about a years worth of different kinds and 2 of their glasses.

Sweet prize and sweet machine.

Everyone is into those 1 cup things, but nothing will replace my Cuisinart with it's internal bean grinder.

I do see the convenience factor though.

    Nice score by the wifey!

I'm really starting to like this machine better then the Keurig. We had this and it was awesome. It was a 2 part brew where you froth the milk then brew the expresso . This machine is about quality. I'm really digging it.

I never dug those automatic frothers build in.....you have to constantly clean them or they go south on you. I have a seperate frother that I like and makes a ton of froth. Coffee is done by a simple Kitchenaid with the removable water container for filling. My Cuisinart bit the dust after one year....go figure. Best one I ever owned was a Bunn, but they never did work in a pause feature, maybe because they brew too fast. Espresso is done the old fashioned way in a stove top pot.

I'm thinking about one of these: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/333965871/kone-coffee-filter-brewing-system

I think the Bosch Tassimo is nice, but this filter will never wear out. It is made in the USA, and so is the brewing system. They are made in Portland, Oregon actually. I have had coffe from a Tassimo maker before and it was good, same with the high quality Bunn makers, but this (the Kone filter system above) filter is usable forever and is a one time expense (unless you break it of course).

I have been using the Tassimo for two years and really like how it performs. Lattes are my wife's favorite and it steams the milk perfectly each time with their dual cartridge system (one for the espresso and one for the milk). I personally just like the coffe it makes.

So far thats my favorite as well. The 2 cartridge system is genius. Why hasn't Keurig done this? Or do they and I don't know about it.

I just use my french press. You can make your coffee as dark or as light as you prefer. There is no filter element that traps the coffee bean oil so you get a fuller flavor.

I have some Caribou Eclipse Coffee that I am going to try next. Currently I am just drinking Seattle's Best #3. One of my favorite coffee's was Caribou Fire Side but it is no longer sold.

I have one of the Cuisinarts as well and I can't stand it. The internal grinding I find to be terrible (I will never do another blade grinder again) so I don't even bother with it anymore. I can't set it to run on "normal" mode other wise it overflows the coffee all over my kitchen counter. I have to set it to 1-4 cup option so it slows the machine down.

I would replace it, but I don't use it as much anymore since we picked this up about 6 months ago:

Nice pickup. We have a kugeg at work and I find it to be OK... always seems to be coffee flavored water, never really like real coffee.

I'll have to look at this since we are looking at something to replace our coffee maker at home eventually and I want something easy since I'm the only one that uses it.

We have this one too, but I don't use the grinder cause I'm up early and it makes lots of noise. I don't want to wake our 14 mth old

I thought about switching my wife over to this system, but reviews of the machine are starting to scare us off. Also, apparently they recently changed something with the milk steamer discs and all the reviews, even those on the tassimo site, are really bad...

Really? I can tell you first hand it's the very best single cup machine I have ever used. I have a Keurig and this thing blows it away. It's organic tasting and very fresh. I'll have to go see these re views but it's not going to change my personal opinion. If I had to buy this or a Keurig , I'd jump on this easy choice. This only thing I like better about Keurig is the selection is bigger. But what I can get for the Tassimo suits all my needs and then some. Earl Grey is fantastic on it as I love a good cup of Tea. The Milk steamers I have are wonderful. They are different as per what you are making. They are not all the same. I wonder what has changed. Ok I'm going over to that site.

I prefer my cafeine cold, so coffee is a no-go for me. But, like you Mantis, I won a kuerig platinum at a holiday party (kind of a "goto the table and pick what you want" type thing)

So far she really seems to like it, so I'm not understanding the coffee flavored water remarks (again, with the understanding that I'm not the one drinking it). I'd think if it tasted like crap, she wouldn't drink it.

I am curious about this frother thing though. Do they have their cartridges split inside, so it does a 2-stage brew? Or do you add once cartridge, wait for it, then add the other afterwards and let that one brew too? I think it would be really cool if it handled it all in one step. Maybe when the K craps out, we might have to look into this type. The price is certainly right.

It's done in 2 steps. Yeah it would be cool if you load up both cartridges at once but thats not how it works. You usually do the milk first then the coffee. You can switch it around if you wish but I do it exactly how it tells you to make it on the box.
The Kuerig is a fantastic machine and I really enjoyed mine. If I didn't get this I would still be using it and be very happy doing so. The amount of different K cups is awesome. It's so fun to go out and shop for new ones , try new stuff etc. I love all that.
The Tassimo is just a better overall product and produce a better cup of coffee more on the lines of a professional. I'm very impressed with the quality and have not noticed the decrease in quality with the steamed milk products. Actually I'm amazed how well it does what it does.
