manufacture date October 2011. I have checked everything I know how to check. I bought this to replace my Onkyo TX-NR807. I went Pioneer Elite for the ICE amps and the recommendations I read on this website.

It still sounds good with the I-pad......but nothing on any hdmi input or output. .....No ....it will output hdmi to the tv in i-pod mode.

I now have almost $4000 worth of electronics that their best function is a paperweight

It's still under warranty, why are you bitching about it here, send it in for repair.

The big deal with these HDMI boards is only a few companies make them and most of them are cheap crap. It's a way for companies to keep cost down.

IMO this is a terrible place to keep cost down as shiitty as HDMI is. HDMI is our industries biggest failure that keeps being used. never in history has a connection been so poor. Even S video connection didn't measure up to the problems HDMI has caused.

Basically it's this , HDMI boards run at 5 volts and when they get a spike of any kind they usually go. It happens constantly in Blu ray players , TV' and receivers. I see it a lot in Samsung TV's.

Do yourself and favor and get it repaired , a SC-57 is no paper weight , it's one of the very best sounding receivers on the market.

Then do yourself another favor and get a very high quality power center . I suggest a Panamax pm5400 level or a APC J15 or at least a H15. If you have a 20 amp circuit you can get into a 20 amp center like the APCS20 which is very nice and useful to protect and serve your gear well.

My SC07 had a catastrophic failure in the main board, fortunately while it was still under warranty. It was a BB demo unit, so not sure if it that had anything to do with it, but brought it back to Geek Squad for servicing. I was told they replaced all the circuit boards in the unit. Working fine since then. If they truly repplaced all the boards, I essentially have a new unit. I would definately take it in and get it fixed. Mine took approx. 3 weeks, but was worth the wait.

Agreed, it's still under warranty if you bought it from an authorized retailer. Send it in. If you didn't...your bad?

I bought it direct from a distributor through a friend of a friend. I had it hooked up to my Belkin PF-20 conditioner, so I don't think it's a power issue. Going to try to get in touch with Pioneer today, but it may be cheaper to see if my local electronics guy can fix it rather than box it and ship it.

Hell, The Onkyo collecting dust out in the garage may be the same problem........

I would go throught Pioneer personally so you have a good warranty on any repairs that are done. Your local guy might be good, but if it craps out again and he needs parts it could be expensive as well.

On something like this its better honestly to go through the manufacture. HDMI boards stink! I had to get my Integra's worked on myself. I believe they replaced all the caps on the board.

I guess I'm not the only one, I have an Elite vsx80txv with the same problem. I'm sure it's the hdmi in, but since I'm not heavily into hdmi and I'm only running 5.1, I can run my two hdmi cables from my ps3 and sat receiver straight to the plasma and run digital sound cables to the receiver. My receiver doesn't have the sound features that a newer receiver does, so I'm not really missing much anyway.

It does bug me that the receiver isn't whole, and I'll get it fixed eventually.

I agree with post 2/3. Do a hard reset on the unit, and see what happens. Are you getting any errors on the receiver at all? Did you try switching HDMI cables? Try this:

    Resetting the system
Use this procedure to reset all the receiver’s settings to
the factory default. Use the front panel controls to do this.
    Set MULTI-ZONE to OFF.
1 Switch the receiver into standby.
2 While holding down HOME MENU on the front
    panel, press  STANDBY/ON.
The display shows RESET  NO .
3 Press ENTER on the front panel.
4 Select ‘RESET’ using /, then press ENTER on
    the front panel.
    The display shows RESET? OK.
    5 Press ENTER to confirm.
OK appears in the display to indicate that the receiver
has been reset to the factory default settings.

I scanned through AVS and someone reported having the same issue, so I suggest trying this also

"After thinking all is lost I tried one more thing. I unplugged the receiver, then pulled all the cables from the HDMI inputs and outputs.

I connected them back on the SC-55, plugged it in and SUCCESS!!!

Apparently the HDMI system was completely locked up so in order to "reset" it, I needed to power down and take off all of the HDMI cables.

I hope this is not going to be a frequent occurrence. I guess I will see. I updated the firmware just in case the problem is addressed in the new update.

I thought I would post this in case it helps anyone else."

And yes you should update your firmware.

Thanks for all of the replies and advise. Trust me.... it is GREATLY appreciated. I haven't had the inclination to really work on it yet, other things going on (pinball restoration!), but I'll definitely try some of the above fixes and see what happens.

I'll hit back and tell ya'll the outcome....I just hope it isn't me getting mad and getting a hammer to make "adjustments".....lol.

    Thanks again.....

    Love all you Polk guys...

Well.....I unplugged it last night.....stripped all of the hdmi stuff. I took a deep breath and tried again just a few minutes ago.

It came up. The receiver had a different display for a sec or two, but it seems to be working now.

THANKS ALL...I might have done something stupid otherwise.

I have to go and get the sat receiver going.

Once again..Thank you to all who tried to help...

It is greatly appreciated. Hell....I might even throw in some electric work if you are in the area.
