RTA15 tweeter

My circa 1990 RTA15 left tweeter appears not to be working (no sound). Before I order a new SL3000 tweeter I want to make sure the reason is because the tweeter is "blown" as opposed to something else. Is there a way to tell for sure (don't know if crossovers go bad or not or something else could be causing the problem).

thanks

    Welcome to the Club Ken,
The easiest was is to swap the tweeters. If the suspect tweeter doesn't work in the other speaker, then it is the culprit. If it does work, then you have other problems.

Sounds like a great excuse to upgrade both tweeters to the RDO-198's :)
Polk CS sells them for around $50 ea to Club Polk members, be sure an mention you are a member :)

I have read that the rdo-198's sounded worse with the stock x-over (according to 1 poster who ended up re-working the x-over, etc). I assume your experience is different. Anyone else care to chime in?

Also, is the rdo-198 a replacement - meaning it fits the same opening with no mod's to cabinet required?

    Thanks

    Something's wrong with their hearing.

Do the swap, if the tweeter works in the other speaker then your problem is most likely the polyswitch. Regardless, buy the RD0198-1's because they are vastly superior.
