my setup is,
Polk monitor70 (2)
Polk cs2
Polk psw505
Yamaha RX-V573BL

so right now on my receiver im using

0db for front speakers
0db for center speaker
-10db for sub
front/center speakers are set to small
keep going back and forth between 60 and 80 hz but i cant tell a difference.
distance is about 10-11 feet for all speakers.

right now the max i can turn up the volume is set to -16.5db, when watching a movie i turn the system up to around -20db and -23db.

just wondering what the difference is between raising the db on each speaker so i wouldnt need to turn the volume up as much vs's leaving the settings like they are?

was just wondering if i was using right settings cause it seemed like i was turning the volume up too loud considering default max db is set to -16.5 and im only 3.5db from that at movie watching volume.

The sub setting seems fairly low in my opinion. Normally thats the one channel most boost to +2 or 3. Set the front speakers and center to large and see if you like the sound better.

    yeah, sub too low.

if you want more bass, raise the bass to xover to 80, or even 100. But you listen on pretty low volumes, at those levels the M70 are prorably not missing any power even when powered just by a receiver. If you turn the volume up though you will probably want the subwoofer to handle the LFE and cut the M70 at 80

Try this; keep all speakers set to small. In the receiver, set mains and center to 40hz, surrounds to 70hz. Set your sub to 120hz LFE. I bet that gives your speakers and sub a nice blend. Keep your db ref at 0.

You weren't happy with the YPAO calibration? Just curious b/c I keep reading that YPAO is inferior to Audyssey. And being that I'm using Audyssey, I enjoy reading complaints about YPAO. J/K. If I ever get around to upgrading it will probably be a Yammie due to my having a few good years of enjoyment from an old HTR series before ending up with Marantz a couple of years ago. Still a believer in the "natural sound" of Yammie receivers.

Also, are you bi-wiring those 70s? Your avr has that feature if I'm not mistaken.

Lastly....pics! Let's have a look at the bedroom HT.
