SDA Custom PCB's Round 2

These are bare boards (no components) and were designed to use bigger Caps & Resistors like Sonicap & Mills and work for the following SDA's with a single board crossover and a Pin/Blade IC cable.

SDA 2B (1987 Blade/Blade IC with single board crossover)
SDA 2B/CRS+ (Pin/Blade IC)
SDA 1C
SDA SRS 2 (1987 Pin/Blade IC with single board crossover)
SDA SRS 3.1TL
SDA SRS 2.3
SDA SRS 2.3TL
SDA SRS 1.2
SDA SRS 1.2TL

Now there are somethings you need to be aware of.

First: Mounting (This only affects the SDA SRS 1.2/TL and the CRS+).
Because of the size of the new boards (10" x 5 1/4" vs 5 3/4" x 4 1/4") the only place I can think of to mount them in the CRS+'s is on the inside top or bottom of the enclosure and extend the leads (P & R) to the big 16mH inductor.

Now that brings us to the SDA SRS 1.2's, I might suggest that you could mount the board on the crossover plate plug everything in and then slide the top in at an angle then move the whole assembly up so you can slip the bottom in and then bolt in place (it should be able to fit through the cabinet opening measuring 4-3/4" high by 14-3/16" wide) and if that doesn't work you could mount the bare crossover plate first then slide the assembled crossover through the hole for the PR and then bolt in place.

Second: Let me ensure you that these boards are electrically identical to the originals with two exceptions, there is no place for the 750pF Silver Mica bypass cap(C4) for C3 it's not needed with the newer/better cap's you can buy today and nobody uses it anyway also I added a jumper (J4) for the Non-TL 2.3's & 1.2's to make things a little easier along with the ability to use a 3 pin connector for the P and R wires if you want.

    Interested, but not sure if I have the skills to tackle this large of a project. Have solder before, but not extensively nor for quite some time. Anybody out there who can help me out? This would be for a pair of 1C's.

    Dave and Glenn,
    If you have ever touched a soldering iron/pen then you have the skill set. People speak in hushed/disapproving tones whenever I
    decide to go beyond changing the oil in my car. Things like locating the fuse panel have stumped me before so I am no expert on things mechanical or electrical and I managed to do several of these. Desolder, resolder, remount in the speaker. Not a whole lot to it.
    Tony has made this super easy with the expanded size and his website. Plan on the first one taking a while and the second one going much quicker.
    Get them and get at it.

    You'll need to change the stock mounting hardware as the mounting holes on the new boards are for 8-32 screws not 6-32, Here's a link to a page that has links to all the nylon mounting hardware www.gimpod.com/parts.html while your there check out the rest of the site for info on your SDA's
