I am expecting this to arrive next Friday. Excited to get back into vinyl.

Some of the albums I bought a few years ago are worth some bank! Holy cow! I am glad I kept them.
Gonna run it with a Cambridge Audio 640P phono stage through an input on the Integra via 'Direct". Thank goodness for that Direct feature. I can really enjoy my music again.

I had a Project 1.2 turntable at one time and it sounded really good. Congrats on the new toy and welcome back to the slippery slope of vinyl! ;-)

Very nice! I'm still VERY tempted to buy one of these to replace my Thorens...

I'm interested in your thoughts on the new TT.

Sorry, but OCD goes with vinyl  That's one reason I gave up on it years ago.

But. . . . . . . I just pulled out my old Denon DD TT with Infinity Black Widow arm and Shure V15 Type V cartridge

Nice! I was considering this same TT as an upgrade to my SL1200. Which color did you go with? They are a fantastic deal with the acrylic platter and they include a darn good cartridge for their reasonable asking price! Hope to hear a review soon!

I don't think this would really be an upgrade to the SL-1200. I'm not knocking the Project, I'm giving the SL-1200 the credit it deserves. Like I mentioned earlier, I used to own a Project 1.2 which is very similiar to the Debut Carbon and I had a Herbies mat, Clear Audio Twister Clamp, and Ortofon OM-30 cartridge on it. It was a very good sounding table, but I like the SL-1200 Mk2 table I have now much better. Of course I've done a lot of mods to the 1200 and that's the point I'm getting at, I would take the money you were going to spend on the table and do some mods/cartridge upgrades on the 1200. I think you'll like what you hear.

I got black. The only other Pre I have heard is the Dynavector P75. The Integra actually has a phono input. I'll see how it does as well.

The Cambridge Audio 640 P came today. Good thing I got it because the Anthem doesn't have a phono input. The turntable should be here Friday. I'm a little apprehensive about setting it up as I never have before. Do I have to have the pressure gauge thingamabob?

Yes and you should have a protractor to set the proper alignment and vtl, etc. Setting up a TT properly is no easy task. It's easy to approximate everything, but performance suffers.

    Good luck

I'm pretty sure if your pro-ject isn't already set-up, it will include at least a gauge in it to set cartridge overhang. Setting tracking force can be done without fancy devices--but you should pick up a scale sometime down the road. Just set VTF to the middle range of your cartridges' specs. Are you familiar with "balancing" and setting VTF on a tonearm? You can also for the time being set anti-skating to match VTF, unless your manual specifies otherwise. This will get you up and running.

Tonearm height, which may or may not be adjustable on your table--is basically adjusting the arm to be parallel with the album surface; normally by adjusting an allen set-screw at the tonearm pivot. This ensures your cartridge stylus tip is riding perfectly level (perpendicular) within the grooves.

Usually tables of this type have a very simple set-up procedure--don't sweat it. Also, check youtube for any possible setup videos.

While a cartridge preasure guage is recommended to accurately set the tracking force, you can use the weight on your tone arm counter-balance to get you in the ballpark until you can get an actual guage. Also, while you can get pre-made cartridge alignment jigs that do make alignment much easier and quicker, you can also do it the old fashioned way using a number of free alignment protractor/guides that are available on the web. Here are a few:

    http://www.enjoythemusic.com/freestuff.htm
    http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml
    http://www.soundfountain.com/amb/ttadjust.html

I find that after printing the cartridge alignment protractors, taping them to either a piece of thin cardboard or construction paper really helps out. Also taping a pencil lead or small drill bit to the front of your cartridge also really helps to align the front of the cartridge with the cartridge alignment marks on the protractor. A small mirror like what comes with a makeup compact will also help set azimuth. It takes a little time, but the quality of sound will make the whole process worth it in the end.

Didn't mean to scare you Darla, as Steve said the more basic tables don't have too much to set-up if you follow what he said you should be close enough to enjoy it.

Got it today. It's all set up and sounds great. Some pops and clicks though. I need some brushes. I thought I had all my old ones but can't find them. There was an adjustment screw for azimuth but hell if I could tell. It looked O.K. to me so I just left it alone. Maybe there's something more precise for that?

I have it running through the Cambridge right now since the D2 won't have a phono stage. I forgot how mush I really like vinyl - except for those damn pops.

Just for the hell of it I tried the Phono input on the Integra. The Cambridge blows it away. I figured a pre would be inferior but it was an embarrassment to the Integra. I'm glad I had the foresight to get it. Now I need to get something to clean these damn things lol.

Congrats on the new deck! I use one of these to clean my vinyl with good success:

    http://www.spincleanrecordwasher.com/

I also bought a cheap wet-dry shop vac from Home Depot and rubber band a clean microfiber cloth over the end of the extension hose nozzle and vacuum off the cleaning fluids after running my vinyl a few times around with the Spin Clean. It works really well. It's the same concept as using one of those expensive record cleaning machines, only it takes a little more effort. The improved sound is worth the effort. I also use those plastic dent pullers you can get from Advance or AutoZone to put over the record label when cleaning and vacuuming. I put one on each side. It makes a convient handle to hold the records while doing this and keeps the labels high and dry.

I know you said you didn't want to get OCD about vinyl, but..........An Ortofon OM-30 cartridge sounds great on that deck.
