I'm on the hunt for an A/V rack for my HT setup. Requirements are as follows:

- Needs to be (3) components wide by (2) components tall.

- Real wood.

- Look good.

I'm lookin at the Salamander Triple 20 in Walnut. Also the TechCraft Highboy 62, but I'm not confident with their quality.

    Looks like good stuff.

Forgot to mention I'd like to keep it around 500-700 bucks if possible

Salamander is our industry standard and the best selling furniture among custom installers. There is no question about quality as they last decades. But after seeing your budget , don't make the cut unless you want to strongly up your budget.

Check out offering's from BDI and Bello , both make excellent quality and slightly less expensive then Salamander.

Cool, I'll check out the BDI and Bello stuff. I was hoping to find a used Salamander piece to fit the budget... there's actually one on the gon right now, but it's a little bit of a road trip...

They also make wooden models as well; Have a look: http://www.davecohifi.com/sonora.php?display=furniture

I've had my Salamander Tripple 20 in Maple with Silver posts for like 9 years. It's in perfect condition and I never had any issues with it. I just added a center door and perf side panels to change it up a bit. If you wish I could snap a few pic's of the new setup. I got the Saturn wheels so I have easy access to the back of the rack where I spend a great deal of time over the years. I have had so much gear go in and out of it and yet it's still here.

I'm currently using this BDI for my HT setup. Kind of pricey but nice. They have wheels for easy access to the back and a removeable back for ventilation.

Or you can get the extended stand which is 4 across and 2 down.

You guys really know how to "spend" the big bucks. For those of you with the wood shop skills, I would imagine that for 700-800 dollars you could out build "any" fancy unit! Better yet, find a nice piece in a Thrift Store, gut it, rebuild the inside and refinish it with your favorite stain, you're done and you've saved a ton! But what do I know? My living room rack was bought for $25 on an "extreme" close out. lol Doesn't look bad either.

And my wife "still" complained! (Why do we need that??) You gotta love it, right?

Lots of nice pieces above, though.

Custom installation in the cnh household? lol (An area rug "hides" all the wiring!). And surrounds sit on top of bookshelves on either side of the room; the center is perched on the monster TV top, and the towers? Well they flank the TV on either side because they are "towers". It's all designed for "minimal" work and placement problems! More time for films! lol

The wife cannot even begin to "imagine" how much "I" saved her! Should I tell her?

I should let her read some of these threads but they would only confirm her opinion that my interest in audio is a form of "madness"!

Man, you got (1) stinkin pic in your showcase....

But yea, I'm leanin' Salamander Triple. I'm going to look at a local one tomorrow, but it's a Triple 30, so it might be too tall... not sure.

This is the triple-twenty in cherry with mesh doors/sides options (needed ventilation). I've had it over 6 years, IIRC it was about $1400, and worth every cent. It came with 3 shelves, and I bought a 4th shelf separately.

Very nice. I would do the black metal too.

I was thinking that the Triple 20 was the right height for me... your pic kinda confirms that. I'm still going to look at the Triple 30 though. It might work out.

    What size screen is that???

58" plasma. The triple twenty top is 65" wide IIRC.

    Nice,

Well, I ended up snagging the Triple 30 as well as a Twin 30 from the same guy. They are both cherry and black. Pics to come...
