Just picked it up on Wed the 13th & got it all hooked up. This thing is staggering complex coming from a no frills NAD. I haven't touched the surface yet but from what I'm hearing already this is a winner. I did a manual speaker setup first just to get the ball rolling. Right out of the box the sound is phenomenal for both music & HT. We watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night & I was very taken back on how this AVR simply converted our room into a movie theater. The front presence speakers really surprised me in how they added dimension, depth & an incredible soundstage. It'll probably take me a few weeks to really tweak it & bring it to it's true potential. I'm still finding new stuff as I play around.
Now about the YPAO room correction system. I never dealt with any other systems so I don't have a benchmark to compare it too except the sound from my manual speaker setup...which by the way sounded pretty damn good. It took about 10min to all the calibrations, settings, multi position measurements & yamaha's new angle measurements. Well low & behold I really didn't know what to expect & I wasn't prepared for the new listening experience I was about to encounter. Just let me tell you I don't have a clue what the hell this thing did bit my jaw literally hit the floor in the difference it made. It was literally a staggering difference. I replayed parts of the Sherlock Holmes movie & I just couldn't believe the difference I heard. I'm loving it!!!!
Two channel is also very, very sweet sounding & I'll be dealving further into that scenerio very shortly. After running the YPAO everything simply took on a new presence!! More to come along w/ pics.

Very Cool man , I gotta get over and hear your system. I've been inviting myself over for months , we will have to plan a visit.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
