Have a shot at a pair of sda 2's ( dont know if they r b's , c's yet) seller will be sending pict. And driver dates and #'s later, but he has no cable. I know there r a bunch of varients in them but i need to know a price range for the cable. Either buy or diy replacent cable so i can see what i will have to spend on the cable to evaluate the deal. Partial trade and cash. Soooo what should i have to spend on a cable roughly! 50.00 100.00??? Or what? Have been wanting to put my ears on a pair of sda's for years but it has to make sence dollar wise.so a rough estimate of cost for the cable is important to the deal. Some advise on the cable would be greatly apprieated.thanks

    Pin/blade cable, no AI-1?

Minimum price--about three dollars if you're willing to go no-frills. Single conductor from pin to pin.

Blade/Blade cable--last I heard Polk was still selling them, about $50.

Of course, when the subject is audiophile cables, the sky is the limit.

If it was me, I'd install a binding post or two on each speaker, use ordinary speaker cable with typical speaker cable ends--as opposed to finding "correct" pin/blade or blade/blade cable ends to make a new cable assembly with.

+1 the binding posts work great, are not hard to install and give you the option of using whatever speakers cable you want (and can afford).

Darqueknight has a DIY post on this that's well documented with text and pics.

As i have never the sda's i just would start with basic to see if i liker them before going to far. Very familiar with RTA'S, MONITOR series 5jr+,7c's, 10's, 12's as ive had all of them.dont expect them to replace my rta 12c's but want to try them.as soon as i get more details on the sda i will know more ie: pin/pin or what they need.

Ditto for foregoing the IC for the binding post and a quality speakercable as a quality substitute. Go this route - use a good-quality speaker cable and binding post, and the SDA experience would be enhanced compared to the IC.

Dont miss the opportunity to own a set of SDA speakers!!!

Pin/blade = Take a single ~16-gauge wire, strip both ends. Poke the stripped wire ends into the pin socket of the SDA interconnect plug on the back of the speakers. As long as the wire contacts the sockets on both speakers, this will provide SDA effect well enough for you to "test" the speakers. Clearly, this is NOT an optimum set-up.

Blade/Blade = two ~16 gauge conductors required. Crimp-on blade-style connectors (4 needed) might work, but you'll probably have to file or grind two of them to get them to fit the smaller blade terminal provide on the speaker jacks. I don't remember if you're connecting wide blade to wide blade, or wide blade to narrow blade. It will make a huge difference. Get it wrong and you're screwed.

Again, I would just install binding posts rather than deal with the OEM connectors.

Ditto on the DIY cable. When I got my SDA-2As, they were disassembled, parts in boxes, and the interconnect cable and blade/blade jacks were missing. I took a cue from my CRS+s, and mounted a quality gold plated, sealed back RCA jack right above the binding posts on the crossover cup. I had 25' of some old 12 gage Monster speaker cable, bought a pair of Neutrik non-shorting, retracting RCA plugs, and it worked out perfectly, neat and clean.

You mean they have a tweeter above two mids and a PR (12" instead of the 10" in the Monitors--and flat?). If so they are some version of a 2A or 2B.
