Are the Audience 70's any good? I really want to hear the Contour 1.8mkii's but those won't be in my price range for a long time.

The Audience 70's where outstanding speakers in their time. They are outstanding today compared to anything anywhere near their price tag then and used now. They where upgraded later to the 72's then the 72se's which where simply amazing and sounded much like the Contour series. Remarkable sounding 2 channel speakers.

They are a remarkable speaker with a music ability many can't even compare to. They can perform all kinds of music well.

One thing that I strongly suggest you do before buying such awesome speakers is make sure you have the correct power to drive them. if you try and run them off a typical receiver , you will never hear what they can do. They are a bit of a challenge to drive. They are a 4 ohm load speakers.

If you don't have a really good amp to go with them then I suggest don't bother wasting your money and buying something easier to drive like something 8 ohm load 89 or higher db rated.

The Audience line from Dynaudio is remarkable every year and every model.

WOW! Lighting fast response! I'd be driving them with a Parasound HCA-750a. Not much power but boy does it sound good. The Audience 70's are 4 ohm speakers and so the amp will give em' 125wpc and is comfortable at 4ohms.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I can't seem to find a single resource for pricing. Do you have an idea of what a pair of Audience 70's should go for in good condition? Thanks a ton for chiming in Dan!

I would probably pay up to $1000.00 for a clean like new pair. Anything under that is a total steal. They are remarkable speakers and their sound quality is worth every penny used in excellent condition.

Your amp will drive them pretty good but if you where to get a more powerful amp , they will open up even more. It's not about how loud , it's all about control and clarity. You'll be fine under normal to kinda loud listening , after that you'll run out of amp and risk damaging the speaker.

As good as the 70's are , these smoke them dead and are at a good used price in mint condition. For $1400.00 your getting high end speakers for half price. Worth checking out.

    Great stuff Dan, thanks.

How do the Contour 1.8 MKii's stack up against the Audience 82's you listed?

I have Contour S3.4s and the Contours will blow away the Audience line. And I mean blow away.

Are those the new model that us getting all the hype? I think they are the same price as Contour 3.4s. Check them both out. I recently acquired my Contour 3.4s used. They are killer.
