Post to an ancient thread or start a new thread?

OK Folks, looking for forum wisdom on this one.

I try and do some basic searches before posting a new thread. Sometimes I find threads that are partially relevant, but they are often several years old. What is the etiquette here?

Choices:
1) Post to the old thread, effectively trying to resurrect a dead discussion
2) Post a new thread, but link to the old thread proving that you at least searched
3) Post a new thread

OK, vote!

I don't think it matters where you post. In the overall scheme of things around here nobody will ever notice or miss any of your posts.

    This seriously made me LOL!
    No excuses!

Many topic's have been talked about in here many many times. There is some good knowledge if you search for it. You can however post a question and many will refer you to the older thread that explains what you are looking for.

But in many cases , people will just give you what you need regardless.

Not so. I've read all of them. Evidently, it took 5 years of nerve-building to generate his first post, but only 3 years until the next... In the past month, he's been rattling on virtually non-stop!

ROFL Decal. That's one that should be required for every Polkie to resurrect at least once!

I would love to agree here, but the search feature here sucks most of the time.

LOL! Actually, I just type really slowly. :)
I joined a long time ago and just lurked around. I started to remodel my theater recently and went looking for advice on speakers, subs, basements, etc.

I've also got my old Polks to sell, but you need to be active on the boards. So no more lurking. :)

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

Yep, and I appreciate that too. It keeps the spammers at bay. I'm also not just hopping on threads with a bunch of "me too"'s. I like asking for help and being part of a community.
