The reason I bought my Furman Elite-15 PF i was because of the technology built into it that allows many high current amps to be unrestricted (3 amps RMS reserve, reactive load, over 45 amps peak charge).

May Carver has never starved it yet.

Do you guys use the power conditioner/surge protector to turn off your amp?

I leave my unit on 24/7. I turn the amp on last and its the first component I turn off when not in use.

I don't really care for 12v triggers. Plus I can't fully utilize it.

My APC H15 runs 24/7 because it has other things plugged into it. Why are you wanting to use a PC as a power switch?

Because I want to minimize the wear and tear of the power switch on my precious new int amp :)

How many times do you plan on turning it off/on? Trust me any amp worth it's salt can withstand years and years of power cycles on the switch. I will add you will be putting more strain on the tubes than the power switch. I personally try and listen to my tube gear when I have a large block of time and I tend to leave them running inbetween listening as long as I am home. If you are going to flip it off and on several times in a day, the tubes will take the brunt of that, not the power switch.

A new baby, and your worried about turning it on ? LOL ....when it comes to tubed anything, you don't want to be flipping it on and off all day to begin with by any means. If you think you'll be gone for a couple hours, leave it on. All day, then turn it off. If the power switch on the unit can't stand turning it on and off once or twice a day, you have other issues going on then.

    Nice amp btw, congrats.

The three power amps in my home theater system are turned on/off from a PS Audio P10 AC regenerator.

    1. Saves wear and tear on individual component's power switches and relays.
    2. Turn everything on/off from one location.
    3. Most power amps don't have remote controls. If the PC has a remote, the amp, and the rest of the system can be turned on/off with the remote.

Lol. I only turn it on/off once a day but I still rather have the wear and tear on the power conditioner than the amp. :)

The ONLY thing you are saving wear and tear on is the power switch, all other associated circuitry as well as the tubes, etc will have the same amount of wear and tear. This seems odd to me since it's not for convenience. But then we audiophiles are a bit odd at times.:lol:

Yeah. The only component I would have to touch physically by hand is the power switch on the amp so I'd rather abuse the PC than the amp :)

There's the convenience factor, and plus the PC delays the power cycling so that there is zero chance of amp thump. First to turn off, last to turn on. Not sure if that's a common feature of PCs but I'm glad mine has it.
