Polk LSi15 tweeter output issue

I sold my last pair of LSi15 speakers locally a couple weeks ago after acquiring the new LSiM set and the new Usher Dancer Mini 2 Diamond DMD pair. The buyer came to my house to audition them and was happy with them, so he took them right away. This weekend he called me and let me know that sound was quite flat, he found out that both tweeters were quiet. I don't want to leave the guy hanging, so what would be the problem here, guys? I mean I can understand him frying one, but this is BOTH tweeters, how can both speakers receive the same issue at the same time? Is it the tweeters or the crossover boards? Any troubleshooting path he should follow? Unfortunately he doesn't have any other LSi15 to switch around parts to test it out.

I'd have him visually check the resistor in the tweeter circuit. I know at one point it was weak point in the LSi series. It gets hot, cooks and opens up. It doesn't happen a lot, but seems to be an occasional issue. Are you sure he has the brass jumpers in place? Maybe have him check that first, tighten them, etc.

For me local craigslist sales are usually as is. Once you audition them and they leave my residence any problems that occur is usually on the buyer unless I specify differently. For me it's easier this way. Club Polk members are different.
I'd have him pull the tweeters out and at low volumes hook them directly up to the amp or receiver to verify they're working. If so them I'd look at the crossovers.
Is he running them off a receiver? -
Thanks for the advice I'll let him know.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

I know the deal's done; he's not a CP member, and it was done via CL. However he's a very nice guy, I just don't want to ignore him. I'm trying to help him figure out what the issue was.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

Remind to never buy anything from you
IMO, even on a Craigslist ad a couple days after the sale it wouldn't hurt to help him out with some recommendations if he's having trouble. But that's it, no refund or going over to his place, etc, etc or a lot of back and forth. It was worth a shot for him to ask you for advice, but if it doesn't fix his problem then he needs to persue it further on his own.

Why are you always on the attack...Calm down sometimes. Audio is suppose to be fun . -
I put a smylee, I also saw you said unless they are on the forum. I do agree with you up to a point. But I know if I was in the buyers shoes, I'd probably atleast ask since it's only been a couple of days. If he was a d*ck about it, then no. But perhaps we can atleast point the guy in the right direction.

Sounds like he pulled a Nooshinjohn or powered them with a receiver."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

...an entry level one at that I'm betting. Then decided to crank on the volume knob and goodby tweets. Really need to find out what the guy was powering them with before offering up any help. You can give him polks CS # and he can buy some replacements on his own.HT SYSTEM-

The guy removed the tweeters and tested them: they're fine. Trey (VR3), do you fix the crossover boards? If yes, I will ask him to send it to you. Let me know.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:
