Has anyone ever had to wait a long time on a buyer paying on Ebay?

I just listed my first action on Ebay and it was crazy. I noticed bids and checked out users feeback and some of them I had to block. My item just sold hours ago and have not even heard from the buyer? The buyer won with one big bid at the end and has good feedback, so should I wait or offer second chances?

This has gave me a bad vibe and I am now thinking about how I just sent out a cashiers check for hundreds of dollars to some one I don't know

Yea, I try to keep a close eye on my bids, but sometimes I don't get to it until the next day. Good for you that you got a last big bid, and I'm sure you'll hear from the buyer soon.

If not, what is it and how much?

I sold some Paradigm Studio 20s on eBay a couple of weeks ago. Everything looked normal until a zero feedback buyer started bidding. I became worried when the bids went well above the amount I expected them to sell for. To my surprise he/she paid promptly and then left positive feedback in a timely manner. They sold for $150 than I expected. So I guess it all depends.

You ever think that the person has plans? Out to dinner? Might need to get money transferred around? A few hours? Are you kidding?

Also, it's typical to see big bids at the end. There are website that have auction "sniping" applications. It's a free service and is allowed by eBay. You indicate the auction number and your bid amount. The website will place a bid for you with about 10 seconds left on the auction. I've used a site called Gixen and it works well.

Well I always pay right away when I buy somthing. If there is a bid sniper then why is there not a pay pal sniper lol. With this they can snipe your paypal with the funds

The item was a ML center channel and I put it up for auction for $1 because ebay had a list it free deal so I thought why not

    Lmao

I was reading ebay threads and most sellers said that if the person does not even leave a message within 24 hours they are not serious about buying. Well I will give 48 hours and then offer second chances but I wont leave negative feedback regardless

Why are you sending out a cashiers check to someone if you are the seller?

Usually the buyer sends you the funds for your item you listed and sold.

You don't send out funds. You wait for their funds to clear and then you mail out the item they won.

Disregard my previous post. I was joking.

The cashiers check is for something diff

Do whatever you feel is appropriate, but if this were my sale I would give 48 hours and then send a second request for payment. Give another 24 hours. If still no communication or payment, I would trash them in the feedback . Sometimes that is necessary.

You and the buyer are contractually obligated. Him to pay and you to ship the goods. You have to give it AT LEAST 48 hours. 2nd chance is for when all attempts to be paid have been exhausted. Read the fine print is my recommendation.

What timeframe did you state you wanted payment made within in your auction? If it's unstated in the auction, I think ebay's policy is that 7 days is allowed for payment before they'll give the "buyer" a non-payer strike - and yes, I think it's three strikes before one gets suspended by ebay.

And, NEVER offer an item up for second chances without trying to contact the auction winner first and giving them adequate time to respond. This would be EXTREMELY poor form. Also, if you were to do that, you can certainly kiss any future successful sales goodbye - the original auction winner can still leave NEGATIVE feedback for the transaction and all your future potential customers will read that! Based on negative seller feedback, I certainly won't bid as high on an item as I normally would have, if at all!

Lastly, even if you wanted to, you can't leave negative feedback for buyers on ebay anymore - ONLY positive or neutral F/B for buyers. But, no matter what you leave, they can still slam you with negative F/B - including for what they might consider a bad attitude (eg. "When are ya gonna pay me?! Huh? When?!").

Just relax, it'll be fine. You did say the buyer has a good F/B record, right?

You have to wait 4 days before you can report them to eBay as a non-payer and they will cancel the sale.

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unpaid-item.html

I've had that happen to me before. Hours? That's not enough time to start being impatient. Even after they do pay, PayPal will hold your money for a couple weeks to a month before you can touch it.

I needed a good laugh this morning, and here I am...

Wait a minute, is this it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item4ab6dd9a99&item=320895556249&nma=true&pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&rt=nc&si=wZYWN6YC%252FN6D%252BfnpMQsm7tLWe1A%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_922

How come you disclosed some scratches but not this?
I did get round to fixing that speaker and used a gas powered snapon brand soldering iron. The speaker works perfect and sounds awesome but I did however.....(wait for it).......... burn and smelt the cabinet of the speaker leaving big horrible bubbles of a thumb size print. I think I really devalued the resale price of this speaker. I was not going to post this but since the thread was resurrected I just thought I would share. I should never have solderd at an angle and should have went straight down ontop with the iron. I can post a pic but would rather keep these blunders a secret from now on

I assume it's the same center.

This was a ridiculous thread to start. A buyer has no control over the end time of an auction when an item they want comes up. I've often placed bids and then had to go into work, where I don't have access to e-bay... Seriously, it's like you think you know what the other person's circumstances are and what they're thinking. Have patience. Or start another stupid thread. Yeah, that's a good idea.

Well the buyer still has sent no response and what if a similar speaker gets listed for less? Offering the second chance makes no sense as they all go bid on the other speaker so I loose a sale

Thats not it as the speaker you mention has a hole in the woofer and a big burn on the cab

My advice, stay off Ebay. Sheesh a couple hours since the auction ended and you are complaining? 48 hours minimum. People have lives, they don't sit and stare at the computer screen waiting for the auction to end. I use Esnipe and routinely wait for an invoice if I win. Sometime I don't know for a day if I've won because I have a life and I don't check my auctions every 5 minutes.

    Duh!

That reply is a bit far fetched I think

Sure if you cant pay straight away but people know when auctions end and there is little excuses to be had for leaving it longer than 24 hours. To expect any reply is reasonable dont you think ? It Saturday too so its not like the person is working a 36 hour shift over the weekend unless he is living in Taiwan
