I 've the older, bigger version of this (10" sub) with identical design. it is above average for music. but if you paid near MSRP, you paid too much because you can get much better sub from Internet Direct brands. I only paid for $150 on CL, around $500 new on newegg that I saw a few weeks ago.

Music first? No, HT? Maybe, lots of competition out there...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I haven't bought a powered sub yet for the new 2-channel audio system I am now putting together for my 2nd house here in Florida, but if I do buy one, I am seriously considering an Epik Legend. This is a very good sub without a big price tag, and has great reviews.
It's a sealed unit with double side firing 12" woofers. The internal amp is 300 watts. Dimensions are 18.0" H x 15.0" W x 20.0" D and the Weight is a heavy 80 Lbs.
Freq. Response is 20 Hz - 200 Hz
Be advised that using a sealed sub like the Epik Legend will normally be in a larger box than a ported sub, and tends to be less "boomy" with a "tighter" bass (more suited towards music than home theater movies)
Price is shown here: http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html2-Channel Audio

The Epik legend is so non-2 channel friendly...
No R/L inputs, extremely lackluster feature design (crossover, phase, eqing, etc)...
To top that off, the build quality is not exactly going to blow your mind and the woofers seem pretty cheap...
For the money there are still better subs out here... Best I saw in the price point would be Elemental Designs, SVS has a pretty solid offering too - especially their amplifier.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
VR3 ... So you are more in favor of a ported sub for 2-channel audio?
Elemental Designs makes great products, but there subs are ported. And you feel a ported subs don't tend to be "boomy" vs a sealed sub?2-Channel Audio

The super cube 4000 is a very nice sub for both music and theater. It's powerful and clean sounding. I would also consider a Martin Logan or a Rel. Velodyne is always a excellent choice for music.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

ED makes sealed subs as well. -
I have heard quite a few ported subs that can hold their own for music...
Its how you design it...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Yes I would have to agree. A couple of my favorite subs have been sealed, but I have also had a couple really goo (for musci) ported ones. My HSU VTF-3r is incredibly tight and articulate, and can slam for movies as well.
Bottom line, whereas I think that in general sealed subs have an advantage for music, I would take a well-designed ported sub over a lackluster sealed sub all day...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

The sealed titanic kits from Dayton Audio are fast and articulate. The 10" model is a good choice for the tunes.
