Hello,
Any Pioneer SC Elite Owners. Have any of you added a external amp to your Elite? Did you notice any ("significant") differences?
Subjective opinions and experience welcome..
Seriously contemplating a Amp when my bonus comes in at the end of the next month.
Thanks for your help

Minor difference, to a point. It depends on the speakers. But the amps in there are pretty darn good. Depending on the amp you buy, there will be a difference. It will be noticeable, but likely minor.
Others will tell you it will be night and day.design is where science and art break even. -
I think if you had some really difficult to drive speakers or 4ohm speakers you'll hear a bigger difference, but like newrival said it'd most likely be a minor change than a night and day difference.

owned a SC-07 and have a SC-35 now.
it all depends on the Amp you add. i have ran a few different amps from Adcom, Acurus, EMO to my Cinenova grade 5. makes a BIIIIIG difference on my power hungry LSi speakers.
the EMO amps are pretty good prices for what you get out of them.

they are not liked on here much, but i like them.mole' -
I think you'll notice a bigger difference upgrading your center to the a6. The amps in those receivers are very good and true to power ratings.

The 7's are fairly easy to drive, and that receiver is pretty good on power by itself. Adding an amp wouldn't be my first choice. Maybe add a Squeezebox or Sonos to the system instead, you may double your listening pleasure that way.HT SYSTEM-

CSia6 is a big upgrade over the a4. DO IT!!!!mole' -
I ran my RTi A7s off of the SC 57's amps while I was waiting for my M25 amp to come in - I'd say compared to the Parasound A21 , HCA2200II, and NC2250 that each powered those speakers in the past, the SC gets you about 75 - 80% there. Admirable job for a receiver.
I'd agree with tonyb to try to improve other aspects of your system before you blow $$ on an amp.ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place

Get a good amp with tons of power thats great for music but first get the center swapped out for the big dawg

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
If I had the room for the A6 it would be a no brainer, but i'm stuck for awhile with the csi a4.Living Room

Is there still much of a difference between the a4 & a6 when I have it set to small for the center channel?Living Room

Yes
My first impression was watching a female news caster sitting next to male. As they both started talking there was a dramatic difference between voicing so there is alot going on -
There was a difference adding the Rotel to my SC07 setup, but not night and day. No additional volume, just more refined sound. Still would not run without it though. Sound is overall more detailed and lows more punchy.Parasound HCA-2003A & 2205A
