Your last song?

I asked this in another thread, but I am curious, if you had 1 last song to listen to, your "final song" what would it be?

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    LOL! Nice.

I read somewhere that death row inmates ask for a "last song", not saying they deserved it, but it shows how deeply imbedded music is in the human psyche.

Probably Bob Seger "Turn the Page" for me.

For a more serious song, I'd use the Grateful Dead's "To Lay Me Down".

    For a fun one... I don't know, I'll report back later.

That one is good. Also, the "Dazed and Confused" and "No Quarter" from Earls Court 1975!! Phenominal!!!

Really funny thing about the 75 Earls Court bootlegs. Never thought that highly of those shows (they were still very good) when I had all the bootlegs. Then after seeing the official release of part of one night from that set of 6 or so concerts I gained a new appreciation for the Earls Court shows. Usually I prefer the rawness and untouched nature of the bootleg over the commerical release, but not for those few songs officially released of Earls Court. A real pity they didn't include the entire show.

They didn't include because the PRO footage was shot for the screens and it was mostly close-ups and poorly lit footage (ie; Page thought it would be monotonous and boring to have close to 3 hours of that type of footage). I tend to agree because I have 3 bootleg DVD's of Earls Court shows and only the hardcore fan can really enjoy it visually for an extended period of time because the angles and cuts, point of views and lighting choices were never intended to be for official use. Pretty unspectacular and one dimensionally boring.

It in no way captures the intensity and mood of the band.

I think Plant's face says it all. These discs are taken from May 24th. Part audience (B+ sound quality, and part soundboard). The "No Quarter" and "Dazed and Confused" are soundboard.

Yep, that was one of the exact bootlegs I had for a long time. Since that one was introduced back in the 90's there have been a plethora of others released with even better fidelity, including DVD's from the pro-shot footage, etc.

But that was one of the boots I was refering to, I felt the performance, while really good, wasn't as exciting as some others from that tour. As a general rule I like the earlier stuff 69-71 the best. Espcially early 69, what a raw, talented band going for it!!! Talk about destroying every other musical act in their path. Some of the most exciting and intense recordings come from those early days. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it all, the various stages, etc.....but those real early 1969 shows are priceless as well as the Hammer of the Gods performances 71 through part of 73.
