My Counterpoint SA12 has 4 Big Grey Badass Caps with a rating of (9700uF) a piece or 38.8KuF Total. Looks like I have some upgrading to do;)

**** this hobby is expensive... any recomendations regarding brands or costs?

CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Sure is.

Headed into the mancave in the near future, just thought I'd share while I had the hood popped.

    Cheers,

Nice amp Russ! Which speakers are you going to connect to that amp?

Here is a picture of the guts of my h/k 870 amp.

The mini-maglite is shown for reference on the toroidal transformer.

The rear bank of four caps are listed at 10,000 uF each.

The front bank of caps are rated at 4,700 uF each.

This bad boy dims the lights when the power switch is hit.

Doc, it looks to me like some of these boys here could use that for their 150s.

You know it BS1. This is one gutsy amp. With almost 60,000 uF of capacitance, it knows how to dance with the big boys. Puts my 3803 on the trailer, that's for sure. The last time I used it was to power a passive dual driver subwoofer.

    My caps aren't blue though.........damn.

Nice looking amp Russ - Adcom = thumbs up. Should power the speaks nicely. Didn't mean to hi-jack - just sharing the high current love.

Hell no, I think everyone should pop the hood and take a pic. Far from a hijack, you added value brotha....

I busted out my mini-mag, the power supply in the Adcom is probably the same size or slightly smaller, the caps measure up to just above the 'head' of the mini-mag - about 4 inches.

    Cheers,
    Russ
