If all your music is on CD, and it sounds good CD to amp to SDA's, why mess it up with a receiver? Just keep it simple. The receiver will likely only degrade the sound. It would add gain, so conceivably that could be beneficial, but if you don;t need the gain for the amp, don;t mess with a good thing.
please do yourself a favor and do not buy a receiver. DO NOT buy a receiver.
If you're convinced you need a preamp, thats fine, buy a preamp. DO NOT BUY A RECEIVER. BUY A PREAMPLIFIER.
if you want to give your budget, making a suggestion will be much easier.design is where science and art break even. -
Hi again there!
I second that. If you're worried about the price of a pre-amp, buy something used. Take a look at the Flea market here, and also
www.audiogon.com for used pre-amps in your price range. Parasound, NAD, B&K, Hafler, etc. have some nice budget units that would sound fine with your existing Denon--which is certainly "respectable".
As for the Harman Kardon (I have a newer version). They're hard to beat for the money, new, and will probably be fine with your RTAs.
