Admire his wall of vintage Polk!
April 1st (no April fools), I retired from the Air Force.
Three years ago I found Club Polk and started a quest to find my high school dream speakers...SDA-SRS's. My first purchase was a pair of SDA-2A's. Within three months of the 2A's I had SDA-1C's and SDA-SRS 1.2tl's and went on to collect pairs of the SDA-CRS, SDA-CRS+, Monitor 5B (Peerless) and Monitor 5 Jr+. The 1C's and 1.2's have new tweeters, rings and XO upgrades and the 1.2's have the Solen inductors and Larry's XO plates. Additionally, I've purchased a wide range of gear and accessories to run all this and more tweaks/upgrades are in the works.
My wife's still in the AF and she's being reassigned to Andrews AFB, MD, so we're prepping to move. As a result, I've thinned the herd a bit and let the 2A's and original CRS's go. Before I did so, I thought it would be wild to see all the speakers as part of one massive wall (thus, the pictures above). There wasn't a minute that my 18 year old self imagined a day would come when I would own one pair, let alone an entire herd, of Polks.
I'd just like to say thanks to all the good folks on CP that have provided the direction I needed to get back into audio. I don't post often but have always appreciated this forum. I look forward to the East Coast audio offerings, Polkies and visiting Polk HQ when I get out there.
Peace,
John (JayCee)
...I learned a long time ago not to flaunt what you have in public. Call me paranoid, but my face is covered in the picture to protect my investment.:loneranger:

Man that is one nice wall of sound very envious on this end... Congrats on retirement and thanks for your service.......Now get off your duff and get a freakin JOB!!!!
just kidding -
What Does a Retired Polkie Do?
Here's a modest suggestion,- Get your stereo properly setup.
- Get or grab a kiddies pool.
- Place pool in the SDA sweet spot.
- Fill it with your favorite Jello.
- Stack a bunch of Playboy's next to it.
- Crank the tune's.
- Get naked.
- Get in the pool of Jello.
- Well you get the idea.
You asked :razz::razz:
All kidding aside enjoy your retirement and your herd of SDA's and as one vet to another !! GET SIGNED UP WITH THE VA ASAP !! you may not need there services now but down the road you never know. I just know that if I didn't have the VA medical I would probably be dead by now or in some really cheap state funded nursing home on my way to being worm food.“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain -
Nice wall of Polk speakers!!
Here is what this Retired Polkie does:
1. Stay up as late as I want listening to my Polks.
2. Sleep as long as I want in the morning.
3. Get up and ask myself, "What do I want to do today?".
4. Try to enjoy life as much as possible.
5. Help others as much as I can.
6. Repeat 1. thru 5.- SDA 2BTL · Sonicaps · Mills resistors · RDO-198s · New gaskets · H-nuts · Erse inductors · BH5 · Dynamat
- Crossover upgrades by westmassguy
- Marantz 1504 AVR (front speaker pre-outs to Adcom 555)

Anyone familiar with the military knows awards and decorations are a couple of ways we show appreciation for what someone has done, however, I've always believed a heart felt "thanks" or "job well done" from my co-workers or boss are equal to or more important. So, to all of you for the very nice service/retirement comments, my wife and I say "thank you"! As for the great Polk comments, I'd like to consider those the Polk community saying "job well done".
This is all very much appreciated!

A shout out is in order...Sell now before you croak and ur wife sells the speakers @ 10 cents on the dollar!
I need a pair of CRS+'s
Sal, you don't know this but you are the reason I have all these speakers (and in particular the 1.2TL's)! Three years ago, on a whim, I searched the net for the Polk speakers of my youth and the first two things I found were your video showing the 1.2's and the associated restoration thread. It was all downhill from there. My 1C's are on the upgrade list to build new endcaps as a result of what you did.
Once we get to Maryland, NYC is on our list of places to visit. Not that I'm inviting myself over, but if it would work out I'd really love to meet you and see your speakers.Congrats John. Not only do you have a great collection, but it looks like a perfect wall for SDA's.
And Larry's xover plates have the SS handles. Very rare they say.
Jim, you were the Polk Fairy Godfather looking over me. In my mind it was a gift from above when you contacted me knowing I was looking for the SDA-SRS's. Talk about the coincidence that we happened to be visiting OKC that weekend. Mari couldn't keep me from bouncing off the walls of our hotel waiting for your email to set up a meeting. I had to call my bank and up the ATM limit so I could have cash in hand when I met you. You should've seen us pulling up to a bank ATM somewhere in the business district of OKC, me pulling out stacks of $20 bills and handing them over to Mari to count until we came up with amount I needed. I kept checking my mirrors because I was sure we'd be carjacked in the process. Short of the speakers being really trashed, I knew I was taking them home.
Just after we auditioned the speakers and I said I'd take them, you politely reminded me that I hadn't done the "push test". Boy, did I feel like a rookie! You and your wife were a pleasure to meet. Talk about WAF...you've got it! Your man cave would make anyone envious and will serve as a model to copy when I finally settle down.
Sal and Jim...thank you!➀Speakers: Polk1.2tl's (Uber Mods) ➁Pre/Amp/DAC: PS Audio BHK Signature & 250, DirectStream ➂Cables/IC's: MIT S1Bi-Wire/S1 Balanced +Avel Lindberg 1000VA "Dreadnought" ➃Power Conditioner: PS Audio P15 Power Plant ➄Power Cords: Core Power Technologies Gold, DH Labs Power Plus DIY w/Neotech NC-P301 & P311ends ➅Streaming: Roon ROCK on wifi'd NUC, TP-Link WAP, & Uptone EtherREGEN, AfterDark, Emperor Double Crown Clock, Black Modernize LPS, PS Audio AirLens⟿Ω☯☥☮⟿🔊♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬ -
