I just recently joined the polk family with the purchase of a pair of Rti70's, a Csi40, and a pair of Fxi30's. I am unsettled on a subwoofer at this time. I have only looked at the pw404 and the Velodyne CHT-10. Circuit City is pushing the velodyne CHT-10. My budget is around $400.00. I want to use is for both music and movies. Any sugestions????

PS: I am using a Radio Shack 10" 150 watt special at this time.

SVS - The velodyne is real boomy. I had one and took it back. The SVS is much better for music and has a ton more of low end bass.

Well i have dual 20-39cs+ subs but you might want to go with the 20-39pc+. It is a good all round model and it comes with the amp built in.

    russell,

Your setup is real close to mine. I highly recommend the SVS 20-39 PC+. Doc recommended this one for me; it blends in beautifully and brings everything together. However, your room size/configuration, acoustics, budget and other factors play an important role in deciding what sub to purchase. If you're considering an SVS, post your specifics here - I'm certain Doc and others would provide specific and useful information/recommendations, and/or email Tom or Ron at SVS and give them all of the above info plus anything else that may ask you about - either one of them will also provide you with the best sub for your situation/budget - guaranteed!

Also look at the Adire Rava, Dayton Titanic, VMPS's and HSU's offerings. SVS is a great choice also, but you do have some real good options in that price point.

    Cheers,
