What would you do with a HALF A BILLION?

The current Mega-MILLIONS jackpot is approaching that figure at an estimated 476,000,000. After taxes here, and the cashout option, the take-home will still be around 250 million!

Who's playing and what will you do IF you win?

After I pay enough in taxes for a couple of fighter jets I will never get a chance to fly, I will spend half of that on apartment buildings and setting up a property management company to care for them, invest half of what's left in securities/metals and oil. The remainder will be put to use buying homes for my family, savings and travelling to exotic places like diving on the Titanic.

    John, don't forget........you have friends.:cheesygrin::cheesygrin:

I'd buy lots of stuff. House on the Amalfi coast, Carmel, Carribean....maybe my own island where I can make the laws.

If you win big guy, can I have those mono tube amps ? You'd have to eat the shipping too, unless you'd care to hand deliver, in which case I'd be forced to make you a damn fine dinner.

It's going to be a long week next week for the folks that spend this week's paycheck on tickets. I'll thank them personally when I cash the big one in.

Stock answer, Whatever the heck I feel like.

I would pay off everything, by a summer home in Myrtle Beach or similar. And then I would take an extended vacation to figure out what I was going to do from then on.

I think I would like to restore old cars and bikes as a hobby for at least a little while. Of course that is when I am not traveling the world.

I often think about that but never buy the tickets so I will never win. But if somehow I did I would retire and build a shopping complex with open an Audio store, topless barber shop and topless car wash. I would have the best 2 channel system, look clean cut and car would always shine. My main job would be interviewing new emnplyees.

I will spend half of that on apartment buildings and setting up a property management company to care for them, invest half of what's left in securities/metals and oil. The remainder will be put to use buying homes for my family, savings and travelling to exotic places like diving on the Titanic.

If half is spent on real estate and half is spent on securities/metal investments, I have some bad news. There would be no remainder to buy homes, travel, etc.

Half + half = all of it

Anyway, it would be nice to have these worries, what to do with all that money.

One thing that has always struck me as strange is when a jackpot gets this large you see these stories of office pools and people traveling across state lines, waiting in long lines to buy their tickets. So for $400M or $500M you would do this, but for, let's say $35M for instance, it's not worth your trouble?

"Nah, I don't want to get a ticket when it's only $35M. Not worth it. Let me know when it's like over $150M and I'll get some." Hmmm....

He is only spending 75% on real estate and investments which leaves him 25% to blow on fun stuff.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

And when you consider the increased ticket sales, the odds are they will be splitting that jackpot between more winners.
