Fella's:

I appreciate all your prayers and please continue to pray for myself and my wife. This last week I was once again in the hospital with a high fever and significant pain. I spent Monday night - Friday morning there and underwent a colonoscopy and rectal ultrasound as well as multiple blood tests.

To make a long story short, I was released from the hospital yesterday in almost the same condition I went in. They still do not know what the infection I have is, where it is, why its not responding like it should to antibiotics. In addition my Crohn's is very bad and causing my terminal ileum and rectal area to have thick walls due to massive inflammation. I wont attempt to express to you the pain that going is causing. I also have a fistula which currently is not infected but long term may become so.

They have me on Norco which isnt strong enough for the pain but I am hopefully at my appointment Wednesday I might be prescribed something more potent to help the pain. I am also on the very slightly different mix of antibiotics which they are hoping might help with whatever infection I have that they cant find. They have biopsy's coming back next week from my colonoscopy and rectal ultrasound that may help determine what infection I may have.

As a result of all this I am going to take a hiatus from the board as I need to focus more on myself and my wife. If you for some reason need to contact me please do so at dpederse @ gmail.com or if you need to talk via phone NooshinJohn knows how to get ahold of me.

I wish all of you the best in your audio quests and hopefully when I come back to the boards it will be in better spirits and health.

Dan

    I feel for you.
    I'll pray for your wellness.

I'll also pray for your biopsys to have some info for the Docs to work with. I'll pray for Docs to have their eyes and ears opened to your comfort needs.

What is up with the medical system not giving established morally decent and hard working americans what we NEED to be disconnected from pain so our short lives (100 years or less) can be lived comfortably. Pain meds and whatever that was needed in the previous 60 years was given until the patient said I'm fine now.

Now it's, "the medical society doesn't care how you feel, go get some alchohol to numb your pain" "the chemical compounds known to work are off limits except for us doctors and our friends who we know. Addiction to pain meds,.......well if they work, why would someone want to stop taking them IF their condition is cronic or the person has had an accident damaging the human body in some way. Burn victoms nerves are forever damaged and they NEED chemical compounds or massive alchohol intake to help with the disconnecting of the pain signals that take over the brains activity.

These Docs nowadays need reschooling as to pain med prescribing. Those pills, liquids and such seem to be kept away from people until their last days and then the rule changes and they will presribe MORE than a person needs and then family members looking for a buzz takes half of them. I've seen it a few times to know it's a fact. Even paid caregivers have been know to steal them.

My personel pain meds were kept BELOW what I needed for 5 years. They still are below if I want to do alot or even moderate work around here. Now if I don't do anything, the doses are ok.

History of pain needs should be a factor.
I never saw a doctor for most of my life until after 46. I have no history of drug abuse arrests so where do these docs who don't want to help you fully, or me either, get their GOD LIKE INSITEFUL JUDGEMENTAL KNOWLEGE to tell us to suffer, when we are paying them to help us. There are 100's of Doctors and if your not getting sufficient help, stop paying them and go pay somebody else. If they don't help either, leave. I've heard from a few elderly people the past years that yes, they encountered Doctors who didn't give them the care they felt they themselves needed so they looked around until they found one. These people have strong personalities and are not the kind to sit and suffer when they know( we all know) there's compounds to alieviate any kind of pain.

    Why should you still suffer!
There's no excuse for it and your well being and comfort is being played with by your Doctor. Your Doctor is telling you to suffer or calling you a lier about the way you disclose how your pain meds are not helping you enough. He/she thinks they are enough. That's their opinion and they say the heck with yours, the patient, who is paying them...

Crohn's disease, my brother in-law has had it for 30 years and he drinks away his pain and discomfort. He's had surgury to remove portions of his intestine and knows he's supposed to stay away from drinking.

I know, he's not supposed to do that but he has for years. How he's alive, puzzles us but he is. He's generally in a good mood too.

Looking forward to hearing about what takes place between now and your return. I like others, hope it's good news.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Prayers and best wishes, we are blessed, it just doesnt feel that way sometimes.

Keep them working for your healing, and demand pain meds that actually help, its your right, dont let the pill seekers take that away from a legitimate pain patient.

I will be praying for you Dan. I pray your pain goes away and the doctors are able to find the cause and get rid of it. Eat healthy, and keep your spirit up. Hope to see you back soon.

Sure hope the doc's find out what's going on soon. Seems rediculous that they can't seem to, yet.

Praying for you and your wife, as I'm sure it's very hard on her to see you in this way. Always looking to the Great Physician...
