Well, seems the power for my original idea of LSi's puts me well over what I wanted to spend.
So......
My new idea;
RTiA7
CSA6 center
FXiA6 rears
DSW Pro660
all from Amazon for $2200....seems a good deal based on snooping around the reputable sites.

So....for power I am thinking of the Onkyo TX-NR709. Power seems good and has nice features. Kid at Best Buy, unfortunately, knew as much about it as I did! It's list is $899, which naturally equates to < $500 on the web.

Any input re. this power source for these speakers would be much appreciated!

Thanks again

Peter

The price feels a bit high on the speakers IMHO...

Pioneer SC37/57 if you want all the bells and whistles.
The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

The Rtia7's sound amazing with the VSX53 level receivers from Pioneer Elite. But if you really want to hear that speaker package I agree with the above , a Nice Pioneer Elite SC-55 would fit the bill or a used SC-05 , SC-25 or SC-35. Unless you need more features then the 7 series of all those models will be the way to go.

I found the VSX53 at a good price, however, it's power is 110W * 7, the same as the Onkyo I was looking at. Can I ask what other specification leans you toward the Pioneer? Basically just an in person sound comparison?

We are a Onkyo Integra and Pioneer Elite dealer as well as many others. I have done side by side tests with myself and other and everyone always picks the Pioneer Models.
As far as features yes I like the set on the Elite receivers just as much if not more then the Integra models of the same class. You get a lot of features with both.

Basically you have to listen to both and pick the one you like. Most pick the Pioneer's for music playback as it has a more REAL sound to it over most other AVR's.

Can save some coin by going with this setup which would be very close in performance. I used Polk's Ebay store for speaker sales.

    RTi8
    CSi5
    FXiA6
    Epik Empire Sub

    All for $1700

Pioneer off Audion is like 500-800

    Thank you all.
I have done some research and are prepped to purchase one of the bottom. Any preferences?
    Pioneer vsx-53 $719
    Pioneer SC-05 $600
    SC-35 $750 (ouch!)

And the receiver I originally wanted was actually Yamaha RXV671BL at ~ $450!!!

Peter unless you plan to upgrade often, it is better and makes more sense financially to spend more money up front to get the best that you can, with all the features you want now, since it will be able to keep you happy for years to come.

This gear is made to last for years, so unless you have to have the latest & greatest every year, the extra expense now will pay you back many times over for years to come.

Getting a good receiver with all the current doodads and with preouts for future amplification upgrades is the way to go.

Pioneer SC-05 is nice. The 35 will do 3D if you need that.
