Well, he's acting a bit more lively this afternoon. Here they are -

He's the non-lab. And to the OP, I take offense to this thread title. These photos prove who the best dogs in the world are! MINE!!!

In all seriousness, five years ago when I moved a thousand miles to N.C. I didn't know a single soul, I did it on a whim almost. I was fairly depressed, and lonely, so I had discussed with my Mother about getting a dog, of course she didn't want me to get one because they take up so much time. Well, went to the pound to get a house cat, and before the cats are the dog kennels, well in the very first one was a tiny yellow lab, the only one in the cage. I took her outside at that point, played for about three minutes, and knew she had to be mine. Lillian has been a life saver for me, I don't know if I would have made it the first few months alone in N.C. without her. Its insane the affect that an animal can have on our lifes, look at Trey for example and how much his means to him, I think we can all see that from his posts. We'll continue to give our Lil' guy as much love as we can, and give him the best quality lifestyle. Thanks for the support guys.

Oh, and sorry to derail your SECOND best dog in the world thread!

We thought so too at first, but looking at a lot of pictures and videos of pug/chihuahua mixes and boston/pug mixes, she looks far more (often) like a Bug. She's a rescue, so we'll never know for sure....the prior owners simply called her a "pug mix." She certainly has Boston spirit, and PUG hard-headedness....LOL

Good with kids ? Picture says it all. He used to block the stairs from the kid when he was learning to walk.

Gotta love dog owners, they seem to be the more warm and fuzzy type.

Those are awesome pictures. I was watching a program this morning before work about dog owners who have seizures and their ability to detect them before they happen. Most of us do not even understand the full ability of our dogs.

Absolutely.....you play to the breeds strengths and try and nurture them to their potential. My white GS., aside from being the most protective dog I ever owned, guarded the kids like they were his own, even strange kids. Personality up the wazoo too. He was a champ on a trampoline. People would drive by the house.....Is that a ....did I just see.....WTF ? People would constantly be driving by my house, put the car in reverse, and stay infront of my house to watch this dog bouncing on a trampoline with the kids. I'll have to find a pic somewhere, I know I have a few around here.

Dogs truely are mans best friend.....as long as you are theirs too.

Those are great, great pictures of the baby and 'protector", Tonyb.

The relationship between a dog and it's co-habitator has always amazed me.

Wordless communication. Growing up, we had fox terriers who would look at you and you'd know what they wanted. Out. Snacks. "There's a cat in the back yard !". And you better not misinterpret the last thing for the "Out" communication or else there'd be a dead cat in the back yard.

And Steve, with your Boston/Pug pooch, it's a shame you don't have snow. Our pugs would take great pleasure in going out in half a foot of snow and making out like they were snow plows. You think they'd freeze their giblets off, being low to the ground and they'd come back in with their faces plastered with snow. Wipe their faces off, and they'd still be so wound up that we'd get treated to 20 minutes of pug fits.

Best dog we ever had was a tomcat, but that's another story.

This link is for owners of "epi dogs". Everything on this site is well intentioned but should be taken with the occasional grain of salt or Potassium bromide or Phenobarb. I lived thru the Hell of canine epilepsy with my Dachshund/Chihuahua mix for over three years and truly sympathize with those that are there now !

Dogs are best friends! loyal like nobody! they will risk their life for us, a dog will never lie to you, Will give their love and companion without asking you for nothing. if you hit a dog and call him... he will come moving his tail like nothing happen. We need to learn some staff from them.
    Make it simple...Make it better!

My oldest daughter thinks this is the best dog in the world. Her 11 month old Rat Terrier, Auggie.

All 17 lbs of him is on high alert making sure the 150 lb Chocolate Lab mix next door stays in his yard.
