I have been scouring, and I can't seem to find rti a9 or a7 used or on the eBay store or on a good sale? It seems like everyone is unloading the lis series... Are the rti's too new or maybe people like them and don't get rid of them or maybe there aren't as many out there ? Or maybe I need to wait longer?

I've seen a few on the Polk audio eBay store in the past, but you're right, it seems a little less often right now. You can get some good deals on some of the Lsi series right now, though.

Used kind of sucks anyway, especially around here. You have to take a lot of risk to barely save 25%.

Newegg has a sale on the black A9 - 540 a piece - not bad really, not gona find them cheaper even used.
The A5s were on sale too, even the chery, but can't tell you what the price was.

Also the center A4 was on sale for 179.

How so ? We had some A9's for under 500 for the set that sat in the FM for awhile. We also had some pretty nice receivers for 3-500 that retailed over 1000 bucks....that also sat for weeks. If that sucks, tell me where you can do better.

Granted, the A9's may not come up too often, which is why I was surprised they sat for so long. Plus our FM is pretty up to snuff with quality pieces and people. I think our FM is one of our strongest suits.

Let's see RTiA series has been around about 4 years

LSi Series which is now discontinued has been around about 10-11 years.

If you do the math, I think it makes sense.

Our FM is the best going, period.

Yeah, but I have seen stuff sell here used for MORE than brand new. Yup. Some guy sold one of the RM series on pieces for more than the set was worth altogether. There is a used A6 now for 329 when right now newegg is selling it for 279 and free shipping. Those banana plugs? To save 8 bucks? I guess he wanted to do him a favor, which is ok, i don't mind that.. All these used amps.. you don't know what you are buying, you have no waranty, there is so much risk, and yet they get sold for such high prices.. I guess people have higher risk tolerance than me. I know I will immediately get flamed now, but if you didn't get it by now, i don't care about your approval, so you might as well save your breath. This is my own perception of the FM, and my perception is a fact in itself that does not require H9 or tony's confirmation.

Situations like the two you mentioned are few and far between IMO. I more often see something sell for a ridiculously low price on the flea market and am kicking myself for not acting quickly enough. I know when I sell something on the flea market, I account for what someone is able to buy new today (regardless of what it cost new when I bought it), and try to offer a good deal. In fact, when I put something for sale here, I tend to sell it for lower than I would on CL or eBay, as I would much prefer to deal with someone here

Don't know anyone here personally, but I also tend to trust that most people here are true enthusiasts who know how to care for their gear, and have tried and true reputations on the forum. In most cases its more economical to buy used if you're a typical audiophile and buy and sell gear regularly. You eat a lot less of the depreciation when you sell something you bought used! I buy most of my stuff used nowadays, and have never had a problem with something used breaking on me. I've honestly had more trouble with something purchased new breaking on me!

Brock pretty much has the answer above. As for the FM. It's great: since I joined the forums I've picked up quality pieces from amps, pre-amps, TTs, I/Cs, speakers, etc. Even the LSi-7s. SDA-2Bs and Sony tuner below are all from fellow Polkies.

Look, your entitled to your opinion as well as I or anyone else around here, but when someone engages you in conversation it doesn't automatically mean we are "flameing" you.

If buying used is so risky in your opinion, how would you expect anyone to buy anything your selling ? In order to try new stuff you have to sell the old, unless your a packrat or have lots of coin sitting around. Other reason too could be you don't try new stuff so never have anything to sell. Buying used enables people to try gear they normaly could not afford new, and thats the ticket.

After having an WTB in the classifieds for a week or so now, I emailed the Polk store on Ebay to see if they had any refurbed A9's in cherry laying around. They did. They just posted them for me and I scooped them up. So that is something to try..., email Polk.

I just want to say +1. I have bought a few pieces off of this site including my first 3 amps I have ever purchased. They are in new homes and still going strong as I talk to the poeple that own them now.I have sold a few pieces on this site. I definitely buy with more confidence here than on any other site. I know if someone is messed over in our FM, other forum members have offered time, money, and services to right the wrong as well as made sure the person in the wrong does what needs to happen to right the ship. This is by far the best FM. As far as buying used, that is the risk that you take. But if you ask enough questions and request enough pictures, you have an small idea of how good of shape it is in. I don't have coin just to buy something new. Buying used has help me own pieces that were a little out of reach new.

Asked them to let me know when they have them again. They said don't even have any new pair of A9s in stock at the moment. Good grief.

what price are you looking for? newegg had the pair for 1100, but the deal just expired, they had the gorgeous cherry too. How much are you gona save with used? You are not gona get them for 500 for the pair, even if used. And you get free shipping and warranty.

As for the FM, I am not talking about confidence in the safety of the transaction. It appears to be butter smooth. But the admins intentionally nurture an atmosphere favoring the sellers. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with 'price police'? Why would we hope that the buyer was careless and uninformed? Price police is not that big though, people always rush to say how 'fair' this price is and that price is... Not many great deals for the buyers here; there are exceptions of course, don't rush to inform me now.. I am active on forums for table tennis, automotive, fishing, and they all have FM's and I am used to the idea of used stuff being really cheap. Not the case here.. Perhaps this is an inherent feature of audio equipment itself, and not of this FM. But generally, if you find what you need on CL, it will be cheaper than here. Occasionally you even get those really lucky ones, like the f/x 500s I got for 100$ together with the speaker stands. Forget about 'lucking out' here.. : ) It is a seller's den. And I'm not saying it's bad, - all voluntary transactions are always perfect in my opinion. I know where I will post my A7s one day : ) But I will be an old man!

I was one of the 2! LOL

Ravaneli, I saw the 499 deal per speaker last weekend for the blacks, cherrys were out of stock at the time. They are in stock now but after checking countless times this weekend, I didn't see any deals this weekend..., unless I missed it. That is what prompted me to pick up the refurbs. I save money but still get some warranty from the factory.

I was hoping to get a pair of refurb cherry A9s for $1000 which is what I've seen P/A sell them for w/shipping. If Newegg can do new for $1,100 w/shipping, I'd do that. Must be cherry.

Yes, cherry, they were in stock. The deal was not on the website, you need to sign up for their promotions. I got an email with a 40% OFF (yes 40) on a list of speakers, and the entire RTi line was on the list, but many items quickly got out of stock. A4, A6, A3, A1, A5, A7, A9, everything was 40% off. A9s were in stock even in cherry. I brought it up in several other threads, sorry u missed it. They come around periodically though, just not sure if they will be in stock next time.

Received my refurb A9s today. I can't tell the difference between refurb and new! And they sound great! Thanks Polk!

I picked my Cherry A9's up through Newegg. $999, free shipping and no tax... I couldn't find any better deal than that. It seemed like I waited forever for the Cherry speakers to go on sale. It always seemed to be the black.
