The LSi9 - Yes! They really are THAT GOOD!

Sorry to see the LSi9 thread become a food fight. Thought I would post my setup. It works for me. I can't imagine a better sounding system without a huge cost to upgrade.
5.1 surround system to include LSi9 and LSiC and LSiFx with two PSW505 subs. A lot of my music is now Blu-Ray, SACD or DVD-A HiRez 5.1. Usage is 75% music (Jazz, Classical, Blues, Piano, and a lot of soundtracks) and 25% movies.
All cables from Bluejeans Cable
OPPO BDP-93 universal player connected via a "Belden Series-FE HDMI Cable" to an Integra DHC80.2 pre-amp. LC-1 Low Capacitance Audio Cable connecting the Integra to an Outlaw 755 Amplifier (5 x 300 watts @ 4 ohms). Belden 12-gauge 5000UE speaker cable to each speaker.
Ran Audyssey XT-32 several times. This program (built in to the Integra) does an excellent job correcting for room distortion. The Outlaw amp powers the speakers very well. The Oppo player and Integra pre-amp are top of the line for music reproduction.
Everything about this system, and especially the Polk LSi speakers, provide me with music reproduction that makes me feel as if I am "there" listening to it live. The important point is this, you must have the proper equipment to run these speakers. I also highly encourage using Audyssey XT-32.
Try:
The DVD-A version of Lord of the Rings soundtrack
SACD: Piano jazz by Hiromi, SACD: Claire Martin, SACD: Diana Krall, SACD: Ola Gjeilo's Stone Rose, and many more.
Thanks!

That's a great setup. You might benefit someday from incremental changes, but sit back and enjoy what you have. Stick around here and slowly garnish knowledge from the many users to understand what might be your next steps, if you really want next steps that is. Then share what works and doesn't work for you. As mentioned in the previous thread, patience for upgrading is crucial if you want to ensure you don't go broke.

Well balanced system you got there , I'm liking it.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Hi,
The OPPO is superb! I opted for the 93 and HDMI so I could utilize the advantages of Audyssey. Some folks prefer the 95 and analog cables to their receiver/pre-amp. But, while the DACS in the 95 are great, this method bypasses Audyssey. Over on the AVS forum, folks with a lot of technical experience (and who's opinion I trust) make a great case for going the HDMI route to take advantage of Audyssey. I agree.
Thanks everyone for your positive comments. I have no regrets with my system and enjoy it every day.

Very Very nice system you got there!!!

Very nice system and positive write up. I really wanted to bite on maple ones that went thru the FM, but I didn't want to try to deal with an external amp on my HT. I keep riding the fence when I see them for sale and even passed on some local CL for reasonable money.
I do have the LSi7 with sonicap and mills mod with LSiC on standard heavy guage copper wires from an Onkyo TX-SR876 which I think gives about 55 wpc in 4 ohm mode. Even worse, with small kids they are on the floor sitting beside the RT3000p towers they replaced with the LSiC in the fireplace spot.
So I put in the immersion "wish you were here" blu ray in 2 channel when a friend stopped by. I asked him how the fireplace speaker sounded during some of the wind and other music and he said pretty good. I told him it wasn't even playing so he got up and checked. Then he put his ear and hands on the giant towers to check for sound...then asked where the music was coming from. I pointed to the relatively small boxes on the floor and he said no way.
So the LSI may be picky to get them perfect, but they can do a really good job with an average set up to.
