I think they'll be easy to integrate. If I'm able to pull this off with zero negative affects on the mains--that'll open the door for a better sub (if the need is there) down the road. SVS recommends a 50Hz low pass crossover, with -24dB rolloff setting as a starting point with the 7ES-3.
I'll be running the PB12-NSD from the preamp loop outputs on my Parasound amp; my only concern (and I just thought about this yesterday) is will the Placette passive work well in this scenario. There is a backup plan---if I'm really digging the sound, but I have output issues due to the Placette, I'll run the Benchmark in preamp mode.
I've got an 8 foot pair of LC1 sub cables coming from Blue jeans cable.
I wanted to start off with something relatively inexpensive, but with good enough performance that I could live with it for awhile (or easily unload it), just in case I can't get it to work out. The Paradigm Seismic 100 looks promising too! Roughly 13" in all dimensions, which would be awesome for your room and allow even better placement.

Being the "anti-packrat" that I am, I sold off my RS SPL meter years ago...(I think Cfrizz bought it?), so now my dumbass has to buy another one. Initially I'm going to tune it by ear, and once I chase down a meter I'll re-check it and get curves. It's going to be tuned strictly for music. I have no interest in "enhanced" special effects. I have found that equipment optimized for music nearly always works well with movies, but the reverse is rarely true--at least with my musical taste.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

My thoughts exactly!
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

Too bad RS no longer makes that model. I had an extra that I would sell you but I already sold it to a canadian eh...I know, how unamerican of me
I will also be very interested to hear how you like this setup. I chose an HSU because I am also primarily music focused (although I do like a good raucous movie every now and then) and it seemed to me from reading forums that music folks like HSU and movie folks like SVS, and since I was going used returning it wasn't an option. Yeah, the stereotypes are flung around on almost every brand "a" if someone is talking about brand "b." I don't pay much attention to it, as I think it comes down to room acoustics, proper calibration, and level selection. My choice to go with SVS was really a matter of 2 things; 1. Better the devil you know..... 2. They are really well respected by experts in the industry. I'm sure HSU, Velodyne, Rythmik, Epik, etc, all make very good subs; but at the end of the day, someone's getting voted off the island, right?...LOL
As an FYI for potential buyers of the PB12-NSD, I chose this particular model because of it's balance of not being incredibly huge, yet still have high power, linearity, and depth--for the money spent. Most everything that competitors had that matched the SVS in performance were far BIGGER.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
yeah I like the fact that it is a little smaller than its ancestor. I always thought that pb12s were really big and a little awkwardly shaped, and this helps a lot IMO and would be a big factor in my decision as well if I had the luxury of buying new...maybe when my kids move out of the house in 18 years!!Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

IIRC the new version PB12-NSD is 17.3" W x 22" L x 20.9" H, and weighs 66lbs. The new grill extends length to 25". I really like the accuracy (tracking of settings) of the new sledge DSP amp, too; it was another factor that figured in to my decision. Reports are that the "marked" settings are very close to what the amp is actually doing, making adjustments more intuitive.
FWIW, the 1st runner-up was the Velodyne Optimum 12.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
