Powering RTI A7's with Pioneer Elite?

I am about to bite on the RTI A7's & but a little concerned about my receiver being able to power these beasts. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-72TXV. It pushes a continous 130W per front channel at 8 ohms and 160 W per channel at 6 ohms. Will there be any lack of power with this? Everything thing I have read is they are power hungry and may need an amp . Thanks

Not to hijack your thread, but I was also curious about this as I was toying with the idea of getting either the a7 or a9 and powering it with my pioneer sc-25 (140 w/ch)

It will power them fine as long as your not going for concert like performances.

    Welcome to the forum Ed.

That seems like a pretty capable AVR. There are a few variables; how many speakers are you going to power with it? How big is the room your equipment will be in?

If you're not cranking it and you're in a small room, you should be okay. If you like to turn it up pretty loud, or if you're in a fairly good size room say 18x15 or bigger, you might want to consider feeding them some more power.

Set the speakers to small, cross to sub at 80Hz and you'll have no problems.

That receiver will be just fine on the A7's, small or large. The 9's might need a tad more, but like F1NUT said, if they are set to small and crossed over to a subwoofer, no problemo.

No issues I see , the 72 will power them just fine at any level small or large. I prefer Small with these speakers mated with a good sub.

I have Pio 1021 and exact same speakers like you, and DSW 660 sub. The A7s are biamped with the rear channels, which seems to make a difference in 2.0 music listen. The A7s are set to large all the time, and they sound great to me. I don't even push the volume all the way up. You receiver should have no problem. My living room is twice that size too. When listening to music I turn off the sub and bump the bass +4 and the A7s pound pretty hard. Almost as hard as my sub, but WAY tighter and clearer.

I have a Yamaha RX A810 rated @ 100W per / 140 dynamic power per. It's powering RTiA7's / CSiA6 and FXiA6's with no problems. Listening to The best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler right now!
