Good quality jumpers

So with the discussion in the LSi9 Mid bass thread, I would like to invite the community to share there opinions for replacement jumpers over the stock brass ones that are usually included. Many suggest going above a monoprice wire so I'm curious what your suggestions are.

Also, for the MIT boys - Been talking with Joe and will be making payment on a pair of EXp 1 speaker cables for a sick price. My question to you is what to use for jumpers? I don't see anywhere MIT offering such a product.

I made these for about 18 bucks. This is an easy DIY that is an improvement over brass:

Too bad those nanners are made of brass too.

Drenis, I'd recommend Vampire gold plated copper spades from Sonic Craft with your choice of wire.

According to the Radio Shack website, they are gold plated.

    Gold plated brass

(which is most probably exactly the same kind of material used to make stock jumpers).

I made ones of large bare wire, and I could not hear any difference (and I had no brass left in the equation, except maybe the "inputs" connector themself... I don't know what material they're made of)... or maybe it was really subttle. Maybe my RTi4 and Yamaha entry-level receiver wasn't revealing enough to make a difference, so I'll probably try again one day.

Go to a goldsmith/jeweler, get some plate type jumpers made from low-karat gold (10-12K). finished, done, over! Except....if you opt for silver which will be cheaper, but then, you'll have to polish them every week !

Yes I hadn't forgotten about that. Was looking to see if there was anything readily available for others who may be looking or if anyone knew of a MIT offering. I neglected to ask Joe but trying to look outside the monoprice selection. I'll just reference what you posted in my DIY thread for my desktop setup, thanks.

Never seen anything from MIT, not necessary to have network boxes on jumpers. Look here lots of alternatives, kinda pricey.

The Cardas jumper plates look interesting.

Exactly... that's why I don't understand why people keep on telling that we should remove brass from our equation to minimize the combination of different alloys/metal...

Maybe I wasn't really clear in my message, I didn't remember that those inputs were called binding posts... lol... after re-reading, yeah, I was not clear at all

    My speakers aren't bi-wirable, so it's a non-issue for me.

I wish I would have kept the dudes email I got the speakers from (Scottsdale), he looked like he was on a speaker finding mission, based on other recent sales he had. He sure kept these absolutely minty, and a damn good price.

    Not on anything here.

And besides, why keep adding more brass to the signal path?

What about using some speaker wire that has been separated, from post to post? I never understood why more people don't do that and use some nanners from there amp? May be a dumb thought, but it seems to be the simplest solution....

You on a mission or something? It was simply an example of some DIY jumpers I made. That ok with you?

I'm actually pretty happy with my LSi9 setup right now, although I would love to try some Harbeths at some point, maybe in a yet to be built 2-channel setup. I am interested in how you found this person in the first place, though. There certainly isn't much nice stuff to be found on craigslist in Phoenix.

On Audiogon, looking for used 7ES's. Just dumb luck that he was in Az. The Lsi9 is a nice speaker, I like it's visceral sound character. First time I heard it, I went slack-jawed for a moment; my first thought was that they sounded BIG.

That was my impression of Lsi9s also at the CAS but.....they were being powered by Doro's Godzilla amp, maybe that helped a tiny bit.

It looks as if your speaker cables are going through the bottom posts then feeding jumpers to the top? Is that not the wrong way around ?

Don't think it matters as it looks to be the same emo speaker wire. Otherwise if it was like MIT I would attach to the highs and jumper the lows

MIT makes jumpers, they just don't list them on their site. Call Joe Abrams and he'll take care of it.
